Man United reportedly in talks with Bayern Munich after announcing Marcel Sabitzer's injury

Due to a knee injury, Marcel Sabitzer will miss Manchester United's final three Premier League games of the regular season as well as the FA Cup final.

In a statement released on manutd.com, the club's official website, it indicated that the Austrian international will no longer be a part of the team for the remainder of the season and of course his loan stint.

"Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has suffered a meniscal injury which will, unfortunately, rule him out for the remainder of the season.

The Austria international, who joined on loan from Bayern Munich in January, missed the 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, with the knee complaint, after coming off the bench in the previous game at West Ham United.

Marcel has played an important role in the second half of our 2022/23 campaign, racking up 18 appearances and scoring three times, a cheeky backheel against Fulham in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final and a double in the Europa League last-eight first leg clash with Sevilla.

The 29-year-old has also secured a Carabao Cup winner's medal, after featuring in February's triumph over Newcastle United, and converted one of the penalties during the shootout success against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup semi-final.

Everyone at the club is disappointed to lose Marcel's services, as the Reds chase a strong finish to the season in the Premier League and FA Cup, and we are grateful for his contribution to our progress so far.

Christian Eriksen, who was sidelined when Sabitzer arrived, is back playing regularly again, while Raphael Varane made a successful return at the weekend, following his recent lay-off. Alejandro Garnacho scored the clincher late on against Wolves, in his first outing since overcoming an ankle injury.

We would like to wish Marcel well in having a speedy recovery," Manchester United wrote.

According to claims from MEN, Marcel Sabitzer was unable to participate in the victory over Wolves on Saturday, and further tests showed a meniscus issue that will keep him out of action for the balance of his loan period.

Sabitzer's recuperation is currently the subject of conversations between United and Bayern Munich, and it is understood that no decision has yet been made regarding his long-term future.

The loan agreement for the 29-year-old was finalized on the final day of the January transfer window as a result of Christian Eriksen's ankle injury and did not contain a buy option.

Marcel Sabitzer has made an impression while playing for the team, however, and Erik ten Hag hasn't ruled out the possibility of making the move permanent. Sabitzer has scored three goals in 18 appearances. The Austrian struggled to get into games at Bayern throughout the first half of the season, but under new manager Thomas Tuchel, things could be different.

Both the FA Cup semifinal victory against Brighton on penalties and the Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle at Wembley featured goals from Sabitzer.

Ten Hag's midfield choices are limited as a result of his ailment; Scott McTominay is also out injured but is anticipated to recover quickly. Additionally aggravating United's injury woes, Donny van de Beek and Lisandro Martinez are out for the remainder of the campaign, while Marcus Rashford sat out if the Red Devils Saturday afternoon victory over Wolverhampton.
