Limited transfer Funds? Here are quality free agent signings who can improve Man United's squad next season

According to rumors, Manchester United is interested in signing Adrien Rabiot this summer on a free transfer. The Juventus star's current Turin deal is set to expire at the conclusion of the current campaign, and he has not yet signed an extension. And released players might wind up coming to Old Trafford since Erik ten Hag reportedly only has £100 million this summer.

United pursued Rabiot last summer after passing on Frenkie de Jong, but the transaction fell through. Instead, they succeeded in acquiring Casemiro, a star player for Brazil ever since his sensational transfer from Real Madrid.

However, United now seems to be interested in Rabiot once more. According to reports, the player, who would offer expertise to the Dutchman's side in the event of any Old Trafford move, has already spoken with Erik ten Hag.

Here is a look at 3 free agent signings who will make Manchester United's summer transfer window an exciting one amid limited funds availability.

Leicester City's Youri Tielemans

The lack of interest in Youri Tielemans thus far is rather perplexing.

It is true that the Leicester player has had a challenging season as his team's chances of being demoted to the Championship seem more and more realistic. However, Tielemans has a history of reliability and would benefit the majority of top-flight teams.

In January, United was connected to Marcel Sabitzer, but decided to take him on loan from Bayern Munich instead. Whether Leicester avoids the drop or not, Tielemans appears ready to move on, and Ten Hag would be wise to sign him.

Borussia Monchengladbach's Marcus Thuram

There have been rumors that United are interested in signing Marcus Thurham after Cristiano Ronaldo left the team in November.

In the end, Wout Weghorst arrived from Burnley on a temporary basis, so that certainly didn't happen.

Thurham, though, is expected to depart Borussia Monchengladbach and is drawing interest from a number of elite teams, with Bayern Munich being one of them.

In 30 games this season, the 25-year-old has accumulated six assists in addition to 16 goals. As they attempt to bolster their assault, United could use that kind of poise in front of goal.

Moussa Dembele

Moussa Dembele has always been praised by United.

It's also simple to overlook the France international's young age of 26. Since he has played for Fulham, Celtic, Atletico Madrid, and Lyon over the years, it seems like he has been doing it forever.

He was associated with United in January, along with Thurham and Tielemans. The France international is currently scheduled to depart Lyon for free. And if Ten Hag decides to renew interest in a player formerly sought after during the administrations of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jose Mourinho, he may be a low-cost, low-risk acquisition.

Juventus Adrien Rabiot

Despite current contract negotiations with the Turin giants, 90min claimed that Manchester United is still interested in signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot and that channels of contact over a potential transfer are open.

The 28-year-old has put in much improved performances for a Juventus team that is presently up to second in the table following three straight victories throughout the 2022–23 Serie A season, making him one of the league's top players.

After not scoring a single goal all of last season, Rabiot now has 11 goals in all competitions for La Vecchia Signora. He has also provided four assists, putting him in the running for a new contract when his current one expires at the end of June.

The extension of Rabiot's stay at the Allianz Stadium is currently being discussed with his representatives, and manager Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly a major fan of the Frenchman. Notably, Rabiot is said to be content at Turin and to be having a good time at the club.

However, speculation over a prospective transfer away from the club has been fanned by the fact that negotiations with Rabiot's team have not yet resulted in an agreement.

In March, 90min reported that Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham were keeping an eye on the issue with Rabiot, and they are still doing so, along with Arsenal.

The quartet, who include United manager Erik ten Hag, think that signing a player of Rabiot's caliber would be fantastic transfer business, and they are prepared to pounce if Juventus are unable to reach a new contract agreement.

Rabiot hinted at a move when he indicated he'd be interested in moving to the Premier League in December of last year, but more lately he's suggested he might end up staying at Juventus, the team he joined from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Rabiot's prospects of making France's squad for the 2024 Euros could actually be negatively impacted by his decision to transfer to a different league, given the requirement to become used to the tempo and playing style of English football.
