Another twist: Sweden international allegedly unhappy at Old Trafford

According to InterLive (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United player Victor Lindelof is quite "unhappy" at the Old Trafford team after falling down the pecking order this season.

Ahead of the forthcoming transfer window, the defender's future with the Red Devils remains uncertain. The Swedish international had previously acknowledged that he will be "assessing his options" for the upcoming summer.

Erik ten Hag has chosen Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his favourite backline pairing for season. The two World Cup champions have been essential to the coach's strategies this season.

For United, the nations of France and Argentina have made a strong defensive pairing. However, since moving to Manchester in the summer of 2021, the former Real Madrid player has a history of injuries.

However, in the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinals against Sevilla, the former Ajax star sustained a season-ending injury. For us, the 25-year-old's absence has been a major setback.

Ten Hag has recently portrayed major roles for actors including Harry Maguire, Lindelof, and Luke Shaw. But at the back, they've all three made a few mistakes.

However, the center-back representative of Sweden has retained his spot. The 28-year-old appears to be the third option that the Dutch manager prefers.

However, since the former Ajax head coach's appointment, the former SL Benfica player has spent the majority of his time on the bench. The defender has played 32 times this season across all leagues and competitions, however he has only started 12 league games.

The Sweden national team captain spoke in an interview during the international break back in March where he voiced his frustration due to lack of playing time.

"Yes, of course. You want to play every game, but I haven’t done that this season. Of course, you want to play matches, but there haven’t been as many. That’s why I play football, to play matches," he stated.

“But right now, I want to focus on the national team and on ending the season well with Manchester United. Then we’ll see what’s best.”

With Martinez sidelined, Lindelof will undoubtedly play a significant role in the season's final few games. It is unclear at this time whether the Swedish national will continue to play for the Old Trafford team after the current season.
