'We have two paths'- Erik Ten Hag states United's chances of qualifying for the Champions League next campaign

Ten Hag has presided over an impressive turnaround at Old Trafford after taking over at the close of the previous season when the team was in total disarray.

With the Reds still competing in the FA Cup and Europa League, there's a possibility that United will win more trophies this season. However, getting back into the Champions League is the main goal at this point in the process under Ten Hag.

A return to the Champions League for Manchester United has always been a priority for Erik ten Hag. For his players to advance to the competition the following season, finishing in the top four of the Premier League has always been an obligatory rather than a request.

“One thing lets make clear, we have to play Champions League,” Ten Hag told reporters, as per Independent.ie.

“A club like Manchester United has to act in the Champions League, so there’s no misunderstanding.”

Another query regarding Champions League qualification was pressed by the reporters, this time with a more transfer-related focus on how players were becoming more drawn to the club.

He added: “Of course we are more interesting when we are in the Champions League."

“But I want to make my point clear: we have to be in the Champions League."

“We have two paths. One is the Premier League, being in the top four, or win the Europa League, so they are the two paths.”

Ten Hag immediately brought up Casemiro, who despite playing in the Champions League five times for Real Madrid and joining United without it. That didn't stop him from wanting to move from Madrid to Manchester, and I'm sure it will be remembered as one of his finest moves.

“I think a very good example is Casemiro,” Ten Had said.

“He won everything, including the Champions League, but he was willing to come to Manchester United.

“Even when we were playing in the Europa League because this club attracts people, it’s very interesting for them and they want to be part of this club," Erik Ten Hag explained.
