Tottenham's Clement Lenglet fires warning at Erik Ten Hag ahead of Premier League clash

Clement Lenglet, a defender for Tottenham, has issued a warning to Manchester United, saying that Spurs are prepared for a "fight" on Thursday in what is a "final" for the team.

United visits the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as both teams compete for a top-four Premier League finish.

With two games in hand over north Londoners, the Red Devils are in a far better spot right now in fourth, six points above seventh-placed Spurs.

Tottenham enters the contest coming off a 6-1 loss to Newcastle United in which they trailed 5-0 after just 21 minutes.

After that dismal outcome, the team issued ticket refunds to supporters and fired interim manager Cristian Stellini, who was then replaced by Ryan Mason by Spurs.

Clement Lenglet issued a warning to Erik ten Hag's team in an interview with the club website as Tottenham is in critical need of a victory.

"We have to change our mindset,’ Lenglet, on loan from Barcelona, said. ‘After a big defeat, you can have a new opportunity and we are ready to fight against United, to find the right solutions to win the game."

"It’s the first final for us. They are in the top four at the moment but they still have to fight until the end to stay there and we have to try and find a place for us."

"We need to start the game from minute one until the end with intensity and aggressiveness to show everyone that we are still alive and we will keep that fire in our hearts until the end, because we have to."

"Ryan (Mason) was a player here, so he knows the exertions of the sport and he knows what to demand from us.*

"He’s transparent, direct and always tells the truth which I think is a good thing."

"We are here to give 100 per cent to help him because it’s never easy to take this responsibility right now. I hope we’ll have a lot of success until the end of the season."

Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has already anticipated a tough trip to Tottenham Hotspur's stadium on Thursday and spoke about how the Red Devils should be prepared for the clash as every other opponents wants to beat Man United.

When asked how he plans to stop Spurs he replied. "It is not about Spurs, it is about Manchester United."

"It can never be that a team we are facing is more hungry as we [are]. So make sure, that is my demand on the players, be ready for that game. It's the same. Show why you are wearing the shirt of Manchester United."

"Then you have to be front foot and our players know that. Every game is the same, everyone wants to beat Manchester United, so then you have to be really alert and really focused and ready for that game because Spurs will play at the highest levels, so we have to play our best football if we want to beat them."

Erik Ten Hag further reacted to Tottenham Hotspur's 6-1 loss to Newcastle United last weekend and he believes the North London club will be aiming to bounce back from that defeat.

"We had some, not so often, that we have to bounce back. “Definitely (more than I would like) but it happens with all the great teams, even Real Madrid, eh?"

“It’s obvious they (Tottenham) had a really bad defeat. Of course, then they are mad. That can be fuel for bouncing back. “But it’s about us. An opponent can never be more hungry than we (are), so that is how we have to prepare the game.”
