Man United advised to pick Orkun Kokcu over De Jong as Gernacho edges closer to new deal

After an outstanding season at Feyenoord, legendary Dutch manager Dick Advocaat believes that Orkun Kokcu has the talent to play for Manchester United.

At Wembley on a stressful Sunday afternoon, Erik ten Hag's team narrowly defeated Brighton and Hove Albion, setting up a matchup with Man City in the FA Cup final in early June.

Advocaat watched as The Seagulls and The Red Devils played to a scoreless draw. Additionally, he saw a spot in Ten Hag's engine room for the guy leading Feyenoord to the Eredivisie championship.

“I saw Manchester United (against Brighton),” Advocaat tells Veronica Inside. “He could have easily (played in that game).”

In 2022–2023, Kokcu, who had previously played for Advocaat at De Kuip before Arne Slot arrived, has significantly improved his performance. The Turkish international, who was born in the Netherlands, has 12 goals and five assists. After developing from a slinky number 10 into a metronomic, deep-lying playmaker, he is the beating heart of this Feyenoord midfield.

Kokcu, who is valued at £40 million, is being monitored by Man United, according to Rotterdam-based journal 1908.

With all due respect to Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, and Casemiro, Ten Hag may find it difficult to implement his free-flowing, possession-based system at Old Trafford without the aid of a press-resistant playmaker who is capable of splitting the lines from deep and turning defense into attack with a slaloming run.

Kokcu and Frenkie de Jong, the former Ajax talisman of Ten Hag, have a lot in common and have been on United's radar for the past 12 months.

Advocaat, on the other hand, thinks that Kokcu's choice to represent Turkey on a global stage was a setback for the Netherlands. He claims that the 22-year-old is 'better' than each and every midfielder available to Ronald Koeman right now.

And De Jong might be among them.

“He’s better than the guys who play in midfield (for the Netherlands now),” Advocaat adds. “He’s a very dominant player. He does very little wrong.”

Man United close to agreeing new deal with Alejandro Gernacho

Alejandro Garnacho is nearing signing a new deal with Manchester United.

According to the dependable Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have been engaged in negotiations for a new contract for the Argentine, and only a few minor issues remain until a deal is achieved.

The present contract for Garnacho expires in 2024, but both parties are open to extending the player's tenure at Old Trafford.

The Peoples Person reported on a report from back in February that image rights are the only thing stopping an agreement from being fully signed and made public.

The new deal with Alejandro Garnacho is anticipated to last through 2028.

The 18-year-old's rising status on the team and in Erik ten Hag's ambitions is anticipated to be reflected in the new compensation package.

An update on the state of the continuing negotiations between the team and the player's camp has now been given by Fabrizio Romano.

"United want to sort out contracts of players such as David de Gea and Marcus Rashford, but they have also not forgotten about Alejandro Garnacho.”

“There is an option to extend his contract by a further year until 2025, this is 100% confirmed," Fabrizio Romano indicated.

“They remain in advanced negotiations over extending this contract even further, there are still one or two things to fix, but he’s very happy there and they are very happy with him.”

“So this is something United want to get done, for sure.”The fact that negotiations for Garnacho's new contract are going well for United is wonderful news for United supporters, who also learnt yesterday that the forward is getting closer to playing again after missing six weeks due to injury.
