SL Benfica set to negotiate Goncalo Ramos's Man United's transfer switch for £70 million

Goncalo Ramos, who is wanted by Manchester United, could cost SL Benfica £70 million, according to reports flying around the media.

Goncalo Ramos of SL Benfica may be available to Manchester United for £70 million if the Primeira Liga team agrees to the asking price, reports Football Insider (via Manchester Evening News).

The current deal for the international player from Portugal has a £105 million release clause and continues through the summer of 2026. However, the Eagles are willing to settle for considerably less to release the 21-year-old.

Several elite clubs in Europe are currently interested in signing Ramos. Therefore, it is not out of the question to assume that there will be fierce rivalry for his services.

The Portuguese player rose through Benfica's youth levels. The youngster was a consistent part of the senior squad for the Primeira Liga team during the previous season. Darwin Nunez, however, served as their guardian at the time.

However, the 21-year-old has replaced the Uruguayan star, who joined Liverpool last summer, this season. The attacker has emerged as Roger Schmidt's team's captain as well.

Goncalo Ramos has scored 25 goals for Benfica in the current season in 37 appearances across all categories. In the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup, the 21-year-old also got a hat-trick for Portugal against Switzerland.

A good number nine is obviously needed in United's front line right now. For the majority of the season, Anthony Martial has struggled with injuries. In order to bolster the front line, Wout Weghorst was subsequently acquired on a loan in January.

Erik ten Hag, however, has had to depend on Marcus Rashford to score goals frequently since his arrival. This season, the 25-year-old has carried the load of the Red Devils' offense. A prolific striker in the lineup would seem to be beneficial for Erik Ten Hag's squad. Ramos, who is still immature, has demonstrated a lot of promise.

The Portuguese player is a respectable choice to have on the Red Devils radar because Benfica is open to discussing negotiating on the 21-year-old's release clause.
