Man United reportedly monitoring 17 year old mid fielder and Gernacho is set to miss FA Cup final

Manchester United is still keeping an eye on how Sweden's Lucas Bergvall is doing.

According to The Mail, United sent scouts to observe Lucas Bergvall play for Djurgarden over the weekend.

Since he participated in a Carrington trial in 2021, Bergvall has been a target for Manchester United.

He was only 15 at the time, and because the club was prohibited by Brexit laws from acquiring foreign players under the age of 18, United was unable to make a deal.

A transaction can only be made next summer because Lucas Bergvall won't be able to until he reaches 18 in February 2024.

Manchester United is still deciding whether it is worthwhile to wait for Bergvall.

Bergvall formerly played for IF Brommapojkarna of Sweden's second division, where he made his first team debut at the age of 15.

He agreed to a contract with top-flight club Djurgarden in the January transfer window.

PSV, Feyenoord, and Manchester City were all reportedly interested in signing him, according to Aftonbladet.

Since joining, Bergvall has played 112 minutes in six appearances for Djurgarden, all of which were as a substitute. He has already accomplished one objective.

The central midfielder "is ranked by many as Sweden's most exciting young player," according to Fotboll Direkt in 2021.

Djurgarden Sports Director Bosse Andersson told Aftonbladet in 2022: ““He’s an incredibly skilled footballer and has a lot of experience at his young age, with his playing skills and it is great that he stays in Sweden.”

When he turns 18, there could be a real fight for his signature and Manchester United appear keen to be at the front of the queue.

Alejandro Gernacho set to miss FA Cup final showdown against Manchester City

Alejandro Garnacho's choice to represent Argentina in the Under-20 World Cup has dealt Manchester United another setback in the FA Cup Final.

With a victory against Brighton in a penalty shootout on Sunday, United earned their spot against Manchester City in the competition's first-ever all-Manchester final.

After won the Carabao Cup earlier this season, they will now take on their local rivals at Wembley on June 3 in an effort to complete a cup double.

Due to the Under-20 tournament's knockout stages being scheduled for the same weekend, they suddenly appear to be playing without their youthful star.

The finals begin on May 20, and Argentine journalist Damian Villagra reports that Ganarcho has offered his services to Javier Mascherano's team.  Villagra tweeted: "Alejandro Garnacho's decision is to come and play the World Cup for the Argentina National Team."

Garnacho's choice to represent his country has not yet been officially announced by either Argentina or Manchester United due to the teenager's ongoing ankle ailment, which has kept him out of action since March.

The 18-year-old, however, posted a photo to Instagram last week that appeared to show progress in his recovery. It showed him wearing his boots again for the first time since the injury.

Alejandro Garnacho's return to first-team action before the season's finish was also predicted by United manager Erik ten Hag earlier this month.

However, a return to full fitness might also mean that the Argentinian decides to play for his nation, missing the FA Cup championship game as well as the final two Premier League games.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, a defensive combo that Ten Hag has already had to deal with injuries to, have already been declared out for the remainder of the season for Martinez.

Concerns have also been raised over Bruno Fernandes' physical condition when images of the Portuguese star wearing a protective boot after Sunday's semi-final victory appeared online.

Alejandro Garnacho, who has made 29 appearances and four goals for the Red Devils this season, has grown into a crucial member of Ten Hag's team.

The attacker, who has scored four goals in five outings and was included in Mascherano's preliminary roster for the competition, is also a huge favorite of the former Liverpool player, who is now in charge of Argentina's Under-20 team.

How will Man United deal with Alejandro Gernacho's absence

Alejandro Gernacho features on the left wing for Erik Ten side and has demonstrated how much of a threat he can be to opponents. He's that good that Erik Ten Hag throws him onto the pitch whenever games are not going in favor of Man United and he often delivers.

Erik Ten Hag sometimes moves Marcus Rashford into the number 9 position just to accommodate the 18 year old and the young Argentine has vividly shown how much hunger and fire he has in him with his contributions to the team.

However, in his absence, if he is to head out for the Argentine Under-20 competition, Man United will have Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga to carry out the duties on the left wing.
