Aston Villa star Leon Bailey posted on his Instagram on Friday ahead Unai Emery's team's clash with Mancheter United at Old Trafford.
Leon Bailey who missed the game due to injury posted "let's see about making things right 👀😂" on Friday as himself and his teammates anticipated an fruitful trip to Old Trafford but it didn't go as expected as Bruno Fernandes first half strike and Victor Lindelof's goal line clearance gave Erik Ten Hag's side all the three points.
Jadon Sancho who played a part in the victory over Aston Villa took to his Instagram and replied Leon Bailey's post via comments section with an eyes popping emoji "@leonbaily 👀" he wrote.
Jadon Sancho was not the only Man United's star who celebrated the victory on social media.
Diogo Dalot posted on his Instagram as well "Important win at our fortress 💪🏻 Thank you Old Trafford 🔥 Manchester United"
Bruno Fernandes who scored his 100th career league goal also acknowledged the victory on social media as he challenged his teammates to keep focus. "Big win. Big performance. Let’s keep this momentum up 👹" he wrote.
Erik Ten Hag loved his side's display as he hailed their passion and character.
“A good three points but I think an impressive performance from us. We were magnificent on the ball, had good possession and pressed well."
“Victor Lindelof played brilliantly. He was totally in control of the area around Watkins. Bruno Fernandes had another great game as well. The plan was to play him from the right to make runs behind and he did that so well. I think our plan worked very well.”
“We look from game to game and next we have Brighton so we need to work hard again. We need to show passion again and not worry about the table.
“We are totally in position for the top four, it’s all about us and it’s in our hands.”
Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 1-0 in the first half to move closer to qualifying for the Champions League. This broke Aston Villa's 10-game winning streak.
The 10-game unbeaten streak of Aston Villa was broken by Bruno Fernandes' goal, which tightened Manchester United's hold on Champions League qualifying.
Since taking over for Steven Gerrard at Villa in November and beginning his tenure with an impressive victory over Manchester United, Unai Emery has presided over an incredible turnaround.
However, United's 1-0 victory on Sunday was secured by Fernandes' first-half goal against the backdrop of anti-Glazer demonstrations. United had lost their previous three Premier League games versus Birmingham, and they came out strong at Old Trafford ready to break that streak.
"I'm really happy with the points but also with the performance," Erik Ten Hag added.
"It was impressive against a Villa side who hadn’t lost in 10 games and scored in every game. We were really good on the ball in the first half – magnificent."
"We created some really good chances through Casemiro, [Marcus] Rashford, Fernandes and [Marcel] Sabitzer, and scored. And then, in the second half, you have to make it 2-0 and you don't make it. And in the end it's going to be tough but we saw again the determination of this team.
"We have to keep going from game to game but I think this is a brilliant week for us. Before this week, I would have been happy with a point at Spurs. Of course, when you see the game and you are 2-0 up, you are a bit disappointed. But with this win, it’s a perfect week. So big credit to the team," he stated.
