With a narrow 1-0 victory over Aston Villa, Manchester United increased their chances of finishing in the top four, but not everyone at Old Trafford on Sunday was in the mood to rejoice.
The traveling supporters, who had been jeering the United captain from the game's beginning, were silenced when Bruno Fernandes scored the game-winning goal in the 39th minute.
However, the Portuguese midfielder and Casemiro were seen arguing angrily as the game came to a close, while those around them celebrated a victory that keeps Erik ten Hag's team comfortably ahead of the competition in the race for a Champions League spot.
Casemiro was seen looking wide-eyed and angry during the conversation with Fernandes before Harry Maguire approached them, in images reminiscent of the pair's acrimonious on-field debrief following United's Carabao Cup victory back in February.
And as they were watching on television, keen Manchester United supporters instantly drew their attention. After being posted on social media, the video has already become widely popular.
The United winger appeared to reprimand his teammate for "moaning" during a conversation he had with Fernandes during the game. The 100th league goal of Fernandes' career, however, made it still a memorable afternoon for him.
And Fernandes praised the significance of the victory as United sought to gain momentum ahead of the campaign's final stages and its tantalizing FA Cup final matchup against Manchester City at Wembley.
After the game, Fernandes told Premier League Productions, "We always want to win the game. It's not always possible, but the team always tries to win the game.
"It's always important because this club is about winning games. It doesn't matter the opponent we play against, we knew we were playing against a good team who haven't lost in 10 games and who have good players and good patterns but we also knew that we are capable to do our job and win the game."
"We did what we were trained to do, we could have scored more goals but we are happy with the 1-0 and the three points."
"It's really important for us to get top four and then we have to think about winning a trophy so we have to find the energy and aim for the top four and the FA Cup."
Before their encounter against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, Manchester United had a nine-point lead over fifth-placed Tottenham in the race for the top four.
Erik Ten Hag reacted to his side's narrow 1-0 win lauding their passion and character.
"A good three points but I think an impressive performance from us. We were magnificent on the ball, had good possession and pressed well."
“Victor Lindelof played brilliantly. He was totally in control of the area around Watkins. Bruno Fernandes had another great game as well. The plan was to play him from the right to make runs behind and he did that so well. I think our plan worked very well.”
“We look from game to game and next we have Brighton so we need to work hard again. We need to show passion again and not worry about the table.
“We are totally in position for the top four, it’s all about us and it’s in our hands.”
