Fantastic news: Erik Ten Hag claims injured Man United star should be back in a week or two

Manchester United still has a number of their first team players unavailable for the trip to Tyneside for their Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Although Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been passed fit and included in the team that traveled to St. James Park, Alejandro Gernacho, Donny Van De Beek, and Christian Eriksen are still out of the team.

Alejandro Gernacho is nursing a knee injury while Van De Beek is expected to return next season; however, Erik Ten Hag has announced that Christian Eriksen will be back in the squad next week after completing his rehabilitation from his ankle injury, which he picked up in January during the Red Devils' Emirates FA Cup clash with Reading.

Erik Ten Hag stressed that the 31-year-old has returned and trained alone but should be recalled back into the match-day squad next week.

"Quite positive about all of the players." "Christian Eriksen is back on the pitch, not yet in team training, but I expect him to be back in team training in the coming week or two, so he will be available for games again," Erik Ten Hag stated during his Friday's press conference ahead of Newcastle United's game.

"So we know how big an impact Christian Eriksen had on our game, but also others like Anthony Martial are also returning to team training, and luckily we had no injuries from the internationals."

The 53-year-old then went further to explain the importance of the first team members being fit and available for the team during the run-in period of the season, before stressing that Manchester United's season has just started.

"That's always a concern as a manager when the players leave you," he continued. "How you get them back, and especially in this stage of the season when it comes to the end, to the final stage."

"The season actually starts now, and we have to be ready for that start, and we are in the right position, but we have to take this great opportunity to restart very well, then improve our game, and win big games," he explained.

A win against Newcastle United at St James Park will keep Manchester United in a commanding position in their race for a top-four finish; however, anything less than the maximum three points will see them enter a dogfight in the top-four race and probably see them drop from third to fifth.

However, Erik Ten Hag's side still have two outstanding games, which include Brentford and Brighton Albion.
