Amad Diallo sends cryptic Twitter message after losing Championship award as Victor Lindelof turns United's transfer headache

The decision to crown Bristol City's Alex Scott the Championship's Young Player of the Season looks to have angered Manchester United's Amad.

On Sunday, the EFL conducted its annual awards ceremony, where Amad faced off against Scott for the Young Player title. Amad has performed admirably for the Black Cats throughout their play-off challenge while on loan at Sunderland.

In 35 games in the second tier this season, the winger has 12 goals and three assists. With two games left, it has enabled Sunderland, who are in their first season back in the Championship, to hold down the final play-off berth.

The United loanee could not, however, defeat Scott at the EFL Awards ceremony. In the table, Bristol City is a pitiful 14th place. Scott has made 40 league appearances, one goal, and five assists while playing in the middle of the field.

Amad nevertheless did not appear to be happy for his adversary after he won, tweeting a mysterious message. Along with two laughing emojis, he wrote: "Youg [sic] player, who?"

Despite being one year Amad's junior, Scott has already made 81 senior appearances in his brief career. The Robins star also thanked Ashton Gate for supporting him ever since he joined the team.

"I think I have had to grow up a lot. Everyone at the Club help to keep you grounded; my teammates are big on that aswell so I have a lot of people to thank. I owe a lot to the Club," he said.

"I have been there three years now coming over as a young 16 year old and now I’m playing every week in the Championship so I owe a lot to them and I am grateful for it."

Amad was left off the Championship Team of the Season, but Scott was given a spot. The two might wind up playing together for Erik ten Hag's team at Old Trafford the following season.

After a good stint at Sunderland, Amad is anticipated to be given the chance to compete for a spot in United's first squad the following season. There is a chance that Scott will join him at the Red Devils as several clubs are circling ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Englishman has been observed by Liverpool, West Ham, and Wolves, and The Sun claimed that United was considering signing him last summer. And after such a successful campaign, interest could be rekindled.

Scott's contract still has two more years still to go, giving the Robins a strong negotiating position. Amad might have to put his complaints about the Young Player award to rest if United do go through with it, though.

Victor Lindelof has turned out to be a transfer headache for United

Victor Lindelof's pivotal involvement in Manchester United's FA Cup semifinal victory over Brighton has left manager Erik ten Hag with a transfer dilemma.

The Swede made just his 18th start of the year in the match at Wembley; at Old Trafford, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez came ahead of him in the lineup. But Lindelof has stepped in to fill in for Ten Hag's preferred partnership, which may be out until the end of the season due to injury.

On Sunday, he gave probably his greatest performance while wearing a United jersey, scoring the game-winning penalty to advance the Red Devils to the championship game. Ten Hag had pushed him to demonstrate his future at Old Trafford before he gave that performance.

"We have a squad - we have more than 11 starters - so now others are on and, when their time is there, you have to show and contribute to the team, you have to be ready. That is what we expect and that is what we demand," the United boss said just over a week ago.

“If you find excuses, if you want to find excuses, you have to look for another club. When the moment is there you have to contribute and that is what we demand. We have to adapt in the squad, we have to use the squad, that is also what we did against Sevilla."

“We have good players, but we have injuries, suspensions, so we adapt to the squad. They [Lindelof and Harry Maguire ] are decent centre-halves, they proved that in the past. This season, we have four or five very good centre-halves who can do the job."

At Wembley, Victor Lindelof easily met Ten Hag's request by making five clearances, eleven recoveries, and winning five of his nine defensive duels. Given that Lindelof has already acknowledged he would think about his future in the summer, it gives Ten Hag a dilemma.

"Of course like every player, you want to play every game and obviously I have not done that this season. But I haven't thought about that, right now I'm focusing on the national team and then of course the rest of the season with the club," he said in March while on international duty.

"Then in the summer we'll have to re-evaluate and see what's best. But like I always say when I come here, it's a pleasure to be here and I'm very happy to represent my country and I'm really looking forward to the games that we have."

Varane might be healthy enough to return before the season is out, according to some reports. Ten Hag would then have to make a decision because Lindelof has previously stated he is open to leaving.

It would be unfair to release the center-back at this time given that he has complied with his manager's request to demonstrate his ability to help United succeed. In addition, Ten Hag must fight the impulse to immediately put Varane back into action if he does have future ambitions for the 28-year-old.

Nine games remain in the season, including the FA Cup final. Ten Hag has that time to determine whether he thinks Lindelof can continue to meet his demands; if not, the center back may push for a summer transfer.

Luke Shaw hails Victor Lindelof

Luke  Shaw thinks Manchester United's players did not provide enough against Sevilla based on their remarkable fitness levels in their win against Brighton in the FA Cup semifinal.

Erik ten Hag was upset and outraged at how United lost to Sevilla on Thursday night, which meant a response was needed against Brighton, although the match was expected to be difficult.

Brighton has had a strong season, and they presented a challenging challenge throughout the game at Wembley. The Seagulls had their fair number of opportunities, but United also had its moments in the box without scoring.

But with neither team able to break through, extra time was quickly followed before penalties were ultimately needed. Victor Lindelof was the player who successfully converted from the penalty spot to win the game as the shootout reached sudden death.

Amazingly, United scored on all seven of their penalty kicks, and Shaw spoke with MUTV about the victory after the shootout. The defender appeared to be happy about the victory but also made a suggestion that the player didn't give everything against Sevilla.

"I think I'd have rather been in the first half of the penalty takers," he said. "It's never nice waiting and waiting, knowing your time is soon. I was confident anyways, if I had to step up, I thought I'd score, but luckily enough, Victor [Lindelof] put it away.

"He won it for us. We've practised them a lot in training and Victor has a beautiful technique. When he was stepping up, I was confident he wouldn't miss. I think so [fitness levels good] and maybe that shows on Thursday night we didn't do enough.

"I think that was clear to see, but we knew we had to bounce back and that competition, the Europa League, was so important to us and we lost it ourselves, but we obviously want the FA Cup too and this was a big game against a good side.

"We had to give everything today and I'm really happy for the team that we're in another final."
