Brighton Albion's captain, Lewis Dunk, has claimed that himself and his teammates have what it takes to beat Manchester United in the semi-finals of the Emirates FA Cup.
The two Premier League sides were drawn against each other after they both secured spots in the Emirates FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday. Roberto De Zerbi's men saw off Grimsby Town with a 5-0 scoreline at Ammex Stadium, while Erik Ten Hag's side needed some luck to complete a comeback against Fulham at Old Trafford.
Both sides had already met this season, with Brighton inflicting a painful 2-1 loss on Man United, condemning Erik Ten Hag to a defeat in his first Premier League Europa game as Man United's manager, though Brighton were being managed by current Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, at the time.
While Manchester United have gone on to enjoy a magnificent season, winning the Carabao Cup to end their trophy drought and being still in contention for two more trophies, Brighton Albion have managed to stay in the Premier League's top 10 as they have been dishing out mouth-watering performances so far.
While Brighton Albion's last time in the semi finals of the FA Cup was in 2019, when they lost 1-0 to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, Lewis Dunk, the only player left from that game in the club, believes Brighton Albion has what it takes to pull a miracle against the Red Devils.
"We're in a different place as a club and a group, and we go there confident in our ability to get into a final," Dunk said after Sunday's 5-0 win over League Two Grimsby in the quarter-finals.
"It has been a big change, and you can see that by the way we are performing and where we are in the table. "We go into every game and we know exactly what we're doing, what we're about, and we know we can beat anyone on our day."
On De Zerbi, who is winning praise for how he is managing Brighton, Dunk continued: "He just gives us confidence and puts pure belief in our ability during the training week." "We go out there confident as anything."
Roberto De Zerbi himself had declared that his side would be looking to seal their place in the final of the competition, although he refused to choose between winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the Champions League next campaign.
"Both. That would be nice, wouldn't it?" He stated.
"We want to arrive at Wembley in the best position, not as tourists," he added.
