Manchester United and Premier League rivals wants €40 million Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga

20-year-old Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga is reportedly on Chelsea and Manchester United's radar, according to ESPN. The young Spaniard is also being linked with a move to Spain's capital with Real Madrid.

ESPN claimed that a number of Premier League outfits as well as Seria A sides want the young Spaniard, who is set to be named in Spain's squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers. Leeds United and Bournemouth allegedly made approaches for the young midfielder in January. Newcastle United, AC Milan, and Napoli are all monitoring the 20-year-old's situation at Celta Vigo.

Gabri Viega's Celta Vigo contract runs until 2026, and ESPN has claimed that the 20-year-old has rejected an approach from the La Liga side to pen a new contract. However, he has a release clause of €40 million in his contract.

It is believed that Premier League clubs see him as a short-term and long-term solution for their squads. Merseysiders and Liverpool have reportedly commissioned reports on Gabri Viega's sporting and personal lives. Manchester United are aiming to recruit him in order to strengthen their midfield ranks.

Although Barcelona's Frenkie De Jong and Borussia Dortmund's starlet Jude Bellingham are still at the top of the Red Devils' list, it is alleged that Gabri Veiga is a good alternative. However, a new striker's recruitment is the priority for Erik Ten Hag's side in the summer transfer window, but Gabri Viega's signing will match the club's financial capacity.

Celta is attempting to extend Veiga's contract until June 2026 in order to raise his release clause. However, it seems doubtful that the player will agree because his most recent renewal did not satisfy him.

The most obvious place for Veiga to go is England. The competition for the midfielder has just started, though, and Madrid and other clubs could enter.

Madrid has so far denied making any approaches to acquire Veiga, but they have added that they are still keeping an eye on him and other promising young players.
