Romelu Lukaku, a former Manchester United striker, "could be perfect" to take Victor Osimhen's position as the Premier League's top teams pursue Napoli's prolific goal scorer.
Aldo Serena, who played for AC Milan, Inter, and Juventus during an illustrious Serie A career, claims that. Serena was a consistent scorer for San Siro during a number of of her stints, but Lukaku is only bolstering the notion that returning to your former team is a risky move.
Lukaku led Inter under Antonio Conte to Serie A supremacy in 2021. However, the Belgian has only scored five goals in 19 games since joining on a season-long loan from Chelsea; Lukaku's second stint in blue-and-black was ruined by poor play and nagging injuries.
Despite Lukaku's two extremely disappointing seasons, Aldon Serena is not giving up on him. If Napoli decides to take advantage of Capocannoniere-in-waiting Osimhen—two of Lukaku's former employers vying for his signature—then Napoli could do worse than to take a close look at a man who will be eager to show that rumors of his decline have been highly exaggerated.
“If I were (Napoli coach Luciano) Spalletti and I couldn’t turn down a massive offer from an English club,” Serena tweeted. “I’d ask Spalletti if he’d be interested in replacing Osimhen with Lukaku."
“If Inter no longer wanted to keep him, I think (Napoli) could be the perfect place for him.”
Il Mattino claims that in order to entice Osimhen away from the lopsided Serie A leaders, Man United, Chelsea, and company may have to fork over an astounding £150 million.
In a well-known quip, Sir Alex Ferguson said that coping with Daniel Levy was more painful than having his hip replaced. Wait until you are seated across from Aurelio de Laurentiis, the owner of Napoli.
“He’s a striker you expect to score in every game,” says former Partenopei midfielder Salvatore Bagni (Libero).
Bagni believes Napoli will sell Osimhen, but only for a three-digit sum. “In July, he’ll go away for £100 to 120 million. That’s right for him.”
