Fans raises concern over Fred and Scott McTominay's mid field partnership as Casemiro faces ban

Manchester United have actually experienced their ups and downs this season, but the team can't be denied a well-deserved applause following the strides they have made this season under Erik Ten Hag.

However, last Sunday's incident that saw Casemiro get sent off for the second time this season has gotten fans scared as it appears they will be witnessing a new midfield partnership, which hasn't been a confident or comfortable one with the fans.

Following Casemiro's dismissal on Sunday afternoon against Southampton, the Brazilian is set to miss the next four domestic games for Manchester United, and that leaves Erik Ten Hag with just Scott McTominay and Fred as the only two available central midfielders.

Although Marcel Sabitzer could be slotted into the midfield alongside Fred if the Austrian international recovers from his injury, which has seen him miss the last two games for Manchester United, But until Manchester United's medical department gives the green light regarding his fitness, the fans will be seeing the return of the MCFred partnership in the midfield.

Since Jose Mourinho brought in Fred from Shaktar Donestk and Scott McTominay got a first team promotion, both have failed to convince the Old Trafford faithful that they have the capacity to carry out the job in the midfield. Although it's safe to say Fred has been excellent under Erik Ten Hag this season, his flaws are still as loud as his performance.

Scott McTominay has struggled to get into the team since Casemiro's arrival, and it's crystal clear that the academy graduate can't influence games like the five-time UEFA Champions League winner. Although he was magnificent after he came on as a tactical substitute for Manchester United following Casemiro's red card against Southampton on Sunday afternoon, He came on as a replacement for Wout Weghorst, as he gave the Red Devils the much-needed steel in the middle as well as making contributions in attack.

He completed 13 passes out of 16 attempted and won 10 duels. He helped shore up the defense, making four tackles and four clearances. which should be enough to convince Erik Ten Hag to trust him when he starts their next league game. But Marcel Sabitzer's fitness would be a huge determinant of that decision.

Scott McTominay, 26, can however get some game time and the chance to salvage his Man United career. He is already heavily linked with a move to Tyneside's club Newcastle United due to a lack of playing time; the decision about his future will be made at the end of the season.

While he will be taking advantage of Casemiro's suspension and probably Marcel Sabitzer's injury, Manchester United's fans will be witnessing the rigid midfield partnership of Fred and Scott McTominay in the coming weeks before the international break.
