Erik Ten Hag claims major Facundo Pellistri's admission as fans makes Antony comparison

Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has edified 21-year-old Facundo Pellistri after the winger's impressive cameo against Real Betis in the Europa League.

Facundo Pellistri has not gotten the amount of game time he would have loved under the tactical Dutchman this campaign, but the Uruguayan winger appears to be on Erik Ten Hag's constant radar as the former Ajax boss claimed that Ole Solskjaer's signing is performing well in training.

Erik Ten Hag, who handed the player his official Manchester United debut, claimed the former Panerol attacker is an example on the training pitch in Carrington and deserves the first-team opportunities.

Following his instant impact upon being introduced into the game on Thursday night with Manchester United already 3-1 up, Erik Ten Hag claimed he couldn't justify the player's absence against Liverpool.

"He is the example by deserving his position by performance on the training [ground]," Ten Hag told club media. "And I said the other day, I did not select him for Liverpool, and it was not even totally justified because he was training that well."

"Now this was his moment to come on because of the longer period he performed in training," he added.

"What impressed me was that he came on and, straight [away], showed himself." When they came on, Scott [McTominay] and Pelli, it was 3-1, but 4-1 is huge to get the extra goal. In the first moment, they did, which was brilliant.

The winger has endeared the heart of Manchester United's fans with his impressive cameos, and calls are being made for the 21-year-old to be handed a starting berth. He went close to opening his goalscoring account on Thursday night but was denied brilliantly by Bravo, who parried his low shot away to a corner.

Fans are already pointing out how dangerous the 21-year-old could be, and some are already claiming he is a better player than Erik Ten Hag's first choice on the right flank and summer signing, Antony dos Santos.

Under a post that was made by Manchester United supporters on their Facebook page to congratulate the 21-year-old on his Europa League debut, fans were quick to point out his qualities.

David Evans commented

"He weighs better than Antony; he deserves more game time."

Smalling De Arook followed up.
"It was his impact that led Weghorst to score."

Gee Chiweshe stated

"This guy is dangerous."

Facundo Pellistri has debuted in the Premier League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and Europa League for Manchester United, but they were all cameo appearances. It's yet to be seen if Erik Ten Hag will give the youngster his first start in a Manchester United shirt before the international break, but the manager is clearly impressed with his contributions so far.
