Alejandro Garnacho wins Goal 2023 NXGN, as he emerges amongst the top nine young talents in Men football

Manchester United's youngster Alejandro Gernacho has been included among the top 50 best young talents in men's football on Goal's 2023 NXGN list. This year's edition has no outright winner, but Goal named the top nine who were the best, and Manchester United's teenager made the list.

The award, which was formed by the football media company Goal, was established in 2016, with a global network of youth football experts meeting each year to contribute.

Alejandro Garnacho was having a stellar breakthrough season before his unlucky injury, which he picked up weeks ago during the Red Devils' 0-0 draw against Southampton. The injury forced him to withdraw from the Argentine national team after he received a call-up and has been denied a potential international debut. He is reportedly recovering well following ankle surgery.

He has made 29 appearances under Erik Ten Hag for Manchester United and scored four goals and registered five assists. Two of those goals were late winners. These were certainly among the reasons Lionel Scarloni had to call up the 18-year-old, and making his bow at the international level would have boosted his recognition.

Previously, the top 50 youngsters had been ranked, with past winners including Garnacho's United teammate Jadon Sancho (2019), plus Jude Bellingham (2022), Ansu Fati (2021), and Gianluigi Donnarumma (2017).

The rest of the top nine NXGN winners for 2023, in no particular ranking order, include Barcelona's Gavi, Borussia Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko, Palmerais Endrick, who will be joining Real Madrid in the next summer transfer window, Fernabache's Arda Guler, PSG's Warren Zaire Emery, Real Sociedad's Mohamed Ali Cho, Southampton's Romeo Lavia, and Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel.
