Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has indicated that his side must keep momentum to record success in Sunday's Carabao Cup final showdown with Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium.
The Red Devils squad left Manchester on Saturday afternoon for Wembley and are anticipating a tough game from the Mapgies. The Red Devils are on the back of a famous victory against Barcelona in the Europa League, however, Erik Ten Hag suggests his men must "keep momentum" against Newcastle United.
"Keep the momentum." Keep going. We know it's a way of life; we have to prepare for it. "Get the right food, get enough sleep, get energy, and go to the next game," Erik Ten Hag told manunited.com.
"It is difficult to say; we're just coming back from the game from Thursday night," he said.
"The players now are just arriving, and we have to examine them. Then we have to see how everyone is, how their mental and physical status is, and then we will draw a plan for Sunday."
Recent statistics have shown that Manchester United has recorded the highest number of goals scored by substitutes across Europe's top five leagues. Antony Santos was the last to do that for Erik Ten Hag's side after the 22-year-old came on as a substitute to net the winner when Manchester United eliminated Barcelona in the Europa League playoff last Thursday. The goal was the 19th goal scored by a substitute for Manchester United this season.
Erik Ten Hag reacted delightfully to the question about his players' readiness to impact the game from the bench and went on to edify them.
"I'm really happy with that," he replied.
"Because it shows that we are not only 11 players; it shows we have a dressing room, and we have weapons in our dressing room who can change games." "You need players who are ready to do that and who are in the mental state to come on the pitch and have an impact."
"That's not easy, so I'm really happy that our players can do that." It makes our dressing room successful in those moments. But success is only there when you get silverware. "On Sunday, we have the opportunity," he explained.
The Red Devils will lineup at 16:30 GMT against Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon in a bid to lift their first trophy under Erik Ten Hag and also end their six-year trophy drought.
Anthony Martial is the only player who will miss out on the trip to Wembley Stadium, and Marcus Rashford appears to have gotten over the knock he received on Thursday night following an encounter with Barcelona's defender Araujo, which prompted Erik Ten Hag to withdraw the 25-year-old.
Injury fears concerning the most important Man United player this season have since been dismissed after he was spotted on Saturday afternoon, boarding the team's bus along with the rest of the squad as they left Manchester for Wembley.
