Micheal Owen concurs with Roy Keane about Man United's Premier League title chances

Manchester United had to wait until the final 10 minutes of their encounter with Leeds United before they were able to get the desired results. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Gernacho ensured Manchester United left West Yorkshire with maximum 3 points following a tensed game at Elland Road.

Then victory moved them to second place on the Premier League table for an hour before domestic rival Manchester City beat Aston Villa 3-1 to reclaim the second spot. They trail Pep Guardiola's side with 3 points and Arsenal with 6 points but Arsenal has played two league matches less than the Red Devils.

Ex Manchester United's striker Michael Owen is adamant his former side are capable of challenging for the Premier League title, he explained that with Manchester City still eventually going to play Arsenal twice in the league; it is going to work in favour of Erik Ten Hag's side.

"Absolutely. If Man City and Arsenal were playing like they were a few months ago, then I would say it’s between those two. But both of them are stumbling," Michael Owen told Premier League Productions after he was quizzed if the Red Devils were title contenders.

"Arsenal, one point from six. Man City, I can’t see them going on an amazing run like they have the last few years. They’ve got to play each other twice as well so there will be points dropped there. You have to include Manchester United, they’re second in the league! If you include Man City you’ve got to include United. There’s a lot of football to be played."

Micheal Owen's comments concurs with Man United's legend; Roy Keane who argued with former Manchester United's right back Gary Neville who asserted that his former side are not title contenders.

Gary Neville shared that a title race wasn't a realistic goal for his former side, despite the massive progress they have enjoyed under Erik Ten Hag's management this campaign. Roy Keane, however, argued that Man United has the qualities to capitalize on any potential title chances, provided either of Manchester City or Arsenal bottle any of their games.

While Gary Neville was analysing the Sunday game results between Leeds United and Man United, stating that the Red Devils weren't title contenders, Roy Keane was quick to tackle his ex teammate.

"If you look at the table they must be in with a chance," the former Ireland International explained. "Obviously Arsenal and City are ahead of them, but what they have to do is if any of them slip up they have to be ready to pounce and keep the pressure on."

"They won today [that] keeps the pressure on City. Considering the start to the season - disastrous start with the results against Brighton and Brentford - but where they are now I’d say they very much are in with a chance."
