In the first of two consecutive matches against the Yorkshiremen, Manchester United will be hoping to extend their winning streak at Old Trafford, in all competitions, to 14 games. Leeds will be visiting without their manager.
On Wednesday, Manchester United will take on Leeds United in the first of three straight Premier League matches against their opponents from the other side of the Pennines.
Their victory over Crystal Palace over the weekend means that the Red Devils have narrowed the gap between themselves and Arsenal (eight points) and Manchester City (three points). They can close the gap even more by defeating the Yorkshiremen, who fired manager Jesse Mars on Monday. The American's responsibilities were terminated prior to these two crucial games for the Elland Road team.
Although he has yet to play for the team after signing on loan, Jack Butland is once again eligible. Anthony Martial and Antony are confirmed to be unavailable for Leeds United's visit to Old Trafford on Wednesday. Antony Santos appears to be suffering from the knock he received from Crystal Palace's Schlupp on Saturday.
Scott McTominay is also unavailable, while Casemiro will start serving his ban following the straight red card he received for holding Will Hughes by the neck during Manchester United and Crystal Palace's altercation.
Jadon Sancho will be making his first start since October, while Diogo Dalot will have to settle for a place on Manchester United's bench but is expected to get some minutes.
After Jesse Mars left on Monday, acting boss Michael Skubala held a press conference to give a team update.
He stated, "The usual long-term injuries haven't changed. We have a few bumps and bruises, but I don't want to give them away."
In addition to Chris Armas, Paco Gallardo will also be in the Old Trafford dugout.
Brenden Aaronson is available despite having appendicitis, and Robin Koch has returned from suspension after missing the loss to Nottingham Forest. Archie Gray, Sonny Perkins, Sonny Dallas, Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw, and Rodrigo might all be out. Patrick Bamford is healthy once more and appears ready to lead the line.
Manchester United's predicted starting eleven against Leeds United
Defense
David De Gea will retain his place between the sticks for Manchester United, and Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez should also stay in the starting lineup. Wan Bissaka and Tyler Malacia will take back full responsibilities. Luke Shaw should be rested while Diogo Dalot's cameo is expected.
Mid Field
Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Scott McTominay's absence means Fred and Marcel Sabitzer will step up; the latter will make his full debut on Wednesday night. Bruno Fernandes will continue in his usual attacking midfield role.
Attack
Wout Weghorst will spearhead the attack again after Anthony Martial is confirmed to be injured. Jadon Sancho will earn his first start since October in Antony's absence, while Marcus Rashford retains his place in the starting eleven.
