Man United and Leeds condemns fans behavior in official statement

Manchester United and Leeds United have both released a statement condemning fans behavior during the clash between both sides at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

A tense showdown between the Red Devils and the West Yorkshire club was marred by fans of both clubs as they chanted and making reference to historical tragedies that has bestowed both clubs.

The following statement has been issued by Manchester and Leeds United, following the Premier League fixture at Elland Road.

"Both clubs strongly condemn chanting from both sets of fans regarding historic tragedies at today’s game.

"Such behaviour is completely unacceptable and we will continue to work together with our respective fan groups and the Premier League and other authorities on eradicating it from football."

Leeds are coming apart again, a section of the traveling supporters reportedly chanted, according to MEN. A Man United security guard was abused by a Leeds supporter while grinning mischievously. At one point, some Leeds fans turned against one another.

In the Norman Hunter Stand's area next to the opposing fans, it was less polite. There was a brief shout of "Munich" as some Leeds supporters imitated an airliner. Before the game began, that was it.

The Munich chants of "Always look on the runway for ice" grew louder as red and white shirts were dispersed over the field. Some United supporters went as low as retaliating by bringing up the two Leeds supporters killed in Istanbul. There were songs played about Mason Greenwood and Jimmy Savile. Both groups of fans exchanged jabs at each other as the game came to a close regarding two tragedies.
