"it'll be like a new signing"- Rio Ferdinand makes claim about Jadon Sancho's return to fitness

Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, has endorsed Jadon Sancho to reinvent himself and regain his best form after his comeback from exile.

Jadon Sancho trained with an amateur football team in the Netherlands while being supervised by trainers whom Erik ten Hag had recommended.

Although, he eventually made it back to England, he continued to train at Carrington alone for a while.

Jadon Sancho returned to the match day squad in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal against Nottingham Forest after spending three months away.

The Old Trafford crowd gave the Englishman a standing ovation when he entered the game and he performed admirably for the few minutes he remained on the field.

As the Red Devils get closer to the stretch run of the season, Ferdinand thinks Sancho will have the will to show everyone that they were wrong to distrust him and that he will be a benefit to the squad.

“Jadon Sancho is back in the Man United squad and if he can get back playing to his best it will be like a new signing for the club," Rio Ferdinand stated.

“If you get someone like him, with the talent he has, playing to his best, he’s a threat for any team – his ability to cause defenders problems."

“In the short-term, it also makes United a lot more competitive in general. The United bench over the last month hasn’t been at its most strongest so having Sancho back gives Erik ten Hag a new option to turn to in the coming weeks.”

Although Ten Hag did not use the attacker against Crystal Palace over the weekend, Rio Ferdinand continued, "He will get his opportunities in the following games."

This will give the 22-year-old enough time to regain his cadence and shape so that he can join Ten Hag's starting XI.

Jadon Sancho will probably have the chance to play a considerable amount of time against their arch rivals, Leeds, since Antony is expected to miss the game on Wednesday.

Jadon Sancho has not started a game for Manchester United since October. While he was in and out of the team due to injury. He has scored 3 goals and assisted one across all competitions this season.

He has netted against Liverpool and Leicester City in the league. The former Borussia Dortmund's ace also has registered an assist against Tottenham Hotspur. He has a goal against FC Sheriff in the Europa League.
