Erik Ten Hag shares delight after Sir Alex Ferguson's meeting ahead of Europa League game

Erik Ten Hag has explained the value of meeting Manchester United's legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, over a dinner meeting earlier this week.

The pair were pictured in a restaurant in Wilmslow on Tuesday night while deep in conversation.

The 53-year-old manager opted to keep the details of his conversation with the former manager and also with an astute member of the board, Sir Alex Ferguson, private. The former Ajax boss was however excited to share how much he values having the great Scot around.

"It’s massive.  "I always enjoy speaking with people who have a lot of knowledge and experience,” Ten Hag told reporters at his press conference ahead of Barcelona's game.

“He wants to share it, he wants to help, he wants to support."

“You feel Manchester United is his club; he feels so committed." "He wants [to see] that we are doing well," he explained.

"It was a great night, and I look forward to the next night with him.”

The former Manchester United manager will certainly be blown away with the strides that Erik Ten Hag has taken since his appointment last year. The legendary manager was quoted in an interview with RTE Racing after Erik Ten Hag was appointed manager as saying:

"I hope he does well [Ten Hag], because the club needs someone to get in control—I hope he does well, yeah."

Erik Ten Hag has also been a follower of the Red Devils far before the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson began. In his interview after he was appointed manager, the Dutch tactician narrowed down how he has been able to get familiar with several household names, naming Bubsy and Charlton.

"I know the history of Manchester United, I know the big times and the audience, and I know the vibe that can be around Old Trafford,“ he told Pien Meulensteen for his first club media interview back in May.

“I watched them in their big times, when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager, during the really successful times when they won titles and were dominating Europe.

“But, also before Sir Alex, Manchester United was a really big club, and I know names like Busby and Charlton that gave Man United a presence to the outside world by winning, and winning in a spectacular way, winning so they entertain people."

“What stays with me is that there was always a fighting culture. "They fight together, and they get success," he stated.

Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013 but has been a member of the club's board and has been a regular presence at Manchester United's games at Old Trafford.

The 81-year-old was present at the Nou Camp when Manchester United played a 2-2 stalemate with FC Barcelona last Thursday.
