Erik Ten Hag makes claim regarding Harry Maguire's future at Man United amid Inter and West Ham interests

Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has insisted he is happy with Manchester United's captain and that the 29 -year-old still has a future at Old Trafford.

Although there have been rumors that Harry Maguire will leave Manchester United this summer, manager Erik ten Hag has reaffirmed that the England defender still has a future with the team.

Harry Maguire, who cost Liverpool £85 million when he was acquired from Leicester in August 2019, has started just eight games so far this year. Despite his issues at Old Trafford, he managed to remain in the England World Cup squad and performed admirably for the Three Lions.

Despite Maguire being picked after Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof by Ten Hag, the Red Devils manager has been impressed with his attitude and effort.

Erik ten Hag is adamant that Harry Maguire will remain at Manchester United. The Dutch tactician is refusing to write him off for United, saying: “I’m really happy with Harry Maguire."

“I think he’s progressing really well and in the games he is playing, he is doing really well. But we have big competition. Harry is right-footed - a big competitor with Rapha Varane, who is also a brilliant player."

“But that is what we need if we want to restore Manchester United - we need top players but also double the players in every position because we want to play in so many leagues and so many competitions," he explained.

“We have certain positions we have a lack of quality and that can’t be, if you want to compete for the highest trophies.”

With a 12-month extension option, Harry Maguire has just under two years left on his current United contract.

He declined the opportunity to join Inter Milan on loan last month in order to push his claim for a spot in Ten Hag's team. It's unlikely that he will remain at Old Trafford as the fourth choice despite Ten Hag's warning because there won't be a shortage of interest in him this summer.

London clubs, West Ham and Chelsea showed interest in the 29 -year-old in January but there was no serious bid. David Moyes' West Ham wanted the England and Manchester United's captain on a loan deal for the rest of the season.
