Manchester United's goal keeper David De Gea has claimed that the Red Devils victory at Elland Road on Sunday was a remarkable one. The 2-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road by Manchester United, according to goalkeeper David De Gea, was a "perfect day."
During the match against the West Yorkshire side, the Spaniard became the first non-British player to reach 400 Premier League appearances for the Reds.
David De Gea was happy to leave Elland Road with a significant 2-0 victory and celebrated the milestone by keeping yet another clean sheet.
The Spaniard spoke to MUTV and Sky Sports after the game, reflecting on his personal milestone and the team's performance.
"It's unbelievable. Today was not about the 400 games, today was about winning," he said. "But, we won the game and [with reaching] 400 games for me, it's a perfect day.
"We knew with the first goal, keeping a clean sheet and scoring the first goal would be massive for us. A perfect cross from Luke Shaw, who is playing really well. And Rashy [Marcus Rashford] is on fire. A lot of goals, helping the team, running, pressing. I think he is playing at the top level.
"[It was a] massive, massive goal for us and after that, I think we controlled the game. We score another couple of goals. So, [it was a] perfect day."
Throughout the game, the home team did put De Gea to the test. Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville, who both compelled the David to act, received the finest of those.
The Spaniard praised the way the team worked together to secure the victory rather than focusing on individual accolades after the game.
"They have 10 to 15 minutes where they create a couple of chances," he explained. "They put pressure on us, which was not easy. It is not easy here.
"I made a couple of good saves and then the team scored a great goal. The atmosphere here, with the fans was amazing, so [it was] a special win and I am so, so happy."
This Thursday's Europa League match between Man United and Barcelona will take place at the Nou Camp. De Gea is urging the Reds to maintain the form we have shown in the last few games going into this meeting.
"Of course. It's going to be a big game, Barcelona. They are top of the league in Spain, so it is going to be a nice game. Let's keep the momentum, play our best game and try to win at the Camp Nou."
The 32 year old went on Instagram to celebrate the win and his newly achieved milestone as a Man United's player. However, there more records to be matched and broken this season for the former Atletico Madrid's teenager.
