It's time for Anthony Martial to bounce back despite new striker's imminent arrival

Anthony Martial of Manchester United is now prepared to provide Erik ten Hag what he desires at Old Trafford as the team prepares for life after Cristiano Ronaldo, part two.

Despite suffering three consecutive setbacks due to injuries this season, Martial has consistently been Ten Hag's first choice and the Dutchman clearly values him. Without assigning blame, the frontman has failed to accomplish it consistently while displaying encouraging glimmers during the campaign.

When Martial returned to Old Trafford this summer, he was at a turning point in his career. The France international was given one more chance to redeem himself, though, after the swearing-in of a new management, and Martial may now begin to pay Ten Hag back for his support during this holiday season.

The former AS Monaco youngster does have a fantastic strike rate this season, with four goals and two assists in eight brief outings, but as the games start to come thick and fast upon this return to domestic issues, Martial simply has to be more readily accessible.

Should the right player become available when the market reopens next month, United will look to replace Martial, 27, and his qualities. In an ideal world, however, Ten Hag would prefer that they do so.

During a warm-weather training camp in Spain, manager Ten Hag spoke in-depth with Manchester Evening News and other British media: "
Do the things you love at one go.

Speaking at length with Manchester Evening News and other British outlets during a warm-weather training camp in Spain, manager Ten Hag said: "The first challenge for him [Martial] is to be available and fit which, firstly, he has to be responsible for it, but we have to support him in all the ways we can.

"We have seen when he is available, he has a massive impact on our game. He has 350 minutes, four goals and two assists and that's a really good record."

"In parts of his game, like pressing, he's doing a really good job for the team linking-up the play. For our team, he's a really important player and we need that profile."

Martial, seemingly, agrees. In a Boxing Day sit-down with MUFC media, he added: "We've put in a lot of good work and it has been a bit like a pre-season for us. We've worked on fitness training and getting into top shape physically and I've benefited a lot from that personally."

"Lots of matches coming up now but, apart from those who went to the World Cup, there has been time for some rest, and they will now also have had a few days off, so we hope we will all return in good shape for the challenges ahead and win all the matches we can."

As of right now, Martial is the only senior striker at the club who is recognized, as Ronaldo has left the club once again. With so many games to come, Marcus Rashford can also fill in if necessary, but there is little doubt that Ten Hag would love to see what they can come up with together.
