Rasmus Hojlund keen on Old Trafford move as new Mason Mount's transfer update emerges

Rasmus Hojlund is one of the strikers Manchester United is reportedly interested in signing for Old Trafford this summer as they search for a new forward.

The Red Devils' 2022–23 season is still not finished, and this weekend's FA Cup final against their city rivals in London will be a difficult test for them.

However, they will have to do it without Anthony Martial because it is thought that the French attacker sustained an injury in their final Premier League match of the year.

Erik ten Hag has very few choices at striker, despite the fact that Martial hasn't exactly been a consistent supplier of goals this season.

For the forthcoming summer transfer window, a striker is allegedly United's primary priority, with Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur being their top target.

However, Spurs are expected to put up a strong fight to hang onto their all-time leading scorer, who only has a year left on his current contract in north London.

And in light of this, United will be considering alternative options, one of which is reportedly the young Danish prospect Hojlund.

Fabrizio Romano stated on the House of Champions YouTube channel that the 20-year-old would be interested in joining Ten Hag's team this summer: "They really like the player and the player really likes Manchester United because he's always been a Manchester United fan."

"So there is a connection I would say between United and Hojlund. But, at the moment, I think the big issue is going to be the price tag because Atalanta will not negotiate for less than €60m/€65m (£51m/£55m) for a player who has been very good this season, but honestly, he wasn't even a starter in the last two/three months."

With 31 league games for Atalanta this season, the Danish striker, who is only 20 years old, has started to make a name for himself in Serie A.

The young Dane scored 15 goals and provided seven assists for the Italian team this season across all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.

His early games for Denmark produced five goals in just four appearances, but he has showed the most promise on the international stage.

Would a 20-year-old who has never scored more than 10 league goals in a season be a viable choice, especially as it is rumored that United is interested in players like Kane and Victor Osimhen?

With United seeking to reduce the gap on the title drive, bringing in an inexperienced striker to the Premier League might put tremendous weight on the Denmark international's shoulders.

Hojlund has received praise for being "scary quick" in the media, but it might still be too early in his career for him to lead the line at Old Trafford.

Man United's chiefs reach agreement for Mason Mount

Mason Mount, a midfielder for Chelsea, has reportedly reached a personal agreement with Manchester United ahead of an anticipated transfer to Old Trafford.

Despite Erik ten Hag's team facing an impending FA Cup final, it appears like the Red Devils are already getting started on their summer plans. The club's preparations for prospective recruits don't seem to be affected by the ongoing ownership crisis, with Mount appearing to be a solid target in the coming months.

According to rumors, United is "really pushing behind the scenes" to sign Mount, and Ten Hag personally wants the player on board. Deal was said to be "advancing" and now appears to have made further progress.

The Red Devils and Mount have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms, and the England international is now "expected" to transfer to Manchester, according to The Telegraph.

Mateo Kovacic's potential transfer to Manchester City suggests that Chelsea is getting ready to make a significant roster change under Mauricio Pochettino.

Mount, who is currently 24 years old and typically plays as an attacking midfielder but can also play on the left or deeper. He is currently in the final year of his contract and is valued at €65 million by Transfermarkt. He might not make 200 games for the Blues.

Rio Ferdinand referred to Mount as a "mad player" and he has played 195 times for Chelsea after coming up through the academy, contributing 37 assists and 33 goals. Additionally, Mount has had loan stints at Vitesee Arnhem in the Netherlands and Derby County in the Championship.

The only senior offensive midfielder available to Ten Hag, Bruno Fernandes, is expected to face competition from the player if he moves to Manchester as anticipated.

The Portuguese international has played a significant role in every competition this season, and with United returning to the Champions League the next year, squad depth may be crucial. Mount has experience at the top level and won the Champions League with Chelsea.

It might turn out to be a welcome addition, but the two clubs must now agree on a price.

Although it appears like a transfer will be something to watch for, Ten Hag's present priority is winning a second domestic cup at Wembley to finish off a strong debut season as manager.
