Casemiro makes hilarious claim about Bruno Fernandes' secret to fitness

The Portuguese star made a humorous revelation that Casemiro knows the real reason Bruno Fernandes is always available for Manchester United.

Fernandes has participated in an amazing 184 games for Man United since his January 2020 transfer from Sporting CP.

In his first full season with Man United, he participated in 58 games across all competitions. The next year, he made 46 appearances across all leagues.

He will play his 59th game in all competitions this season as he starts his team's FA Cup match against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

What is the key to his physical fitness and capacity to be available for selection at all times? Casemiro says it's because Fernandes weighs "nothing," so to speak.

In his remarks prior to the match on Saturday, Fernandes shared a joke that Casemiro once made with him: "Sometimes even Casemiro teases with me and says, "You run for every game and you can play every game since your weight is nothing."

Harry Maguire is most likely to sit on the bench as the 28-year-old, who has 13 goals in all competitions this season, is expected to lead his club.

Bruno Fernandes feels he owes Erik ten Hag for supporting him following the humiliating 7-0 loss at Liverpool because of the burden of donning the captain's armband.

"I'm aware that he's really happy with the way I train, the way I play, the way I show my emotions and the way I show my passion for the game," he said.

"He knows I care. That's why probably sometimes it makes you do some things that you should not do."

Fernandes added: "But I will never do anything to make the team look bad, make my team-mates look bad, or something that is not good for the team. He knows that, so that's why it protects me."

"I think that's good because he shows you the respect, he shows you the protection, but always with the demands behind that because obviously when you protect someone you want them to give you some back, so he can have his reasons to protect you."

Casemiro was also praised by Manchester City's manager Pep Guardiola. Ahead of the last Manchester derby of the season set to be played at Wembley stadium in Emirates FA Cup final on Saturday, Pep Guardiola stated that the 31 year old has impressed since he arrived at Old Trafford last summer.

"I don’t know him but I have info when he was in Madrid, how professional he was, the quality he has," Guardiola explained. "I was convinced he wasn’t coming here just for holidays or the last years of his career.

"When you’ve won four or five Champions Leagues with Real Madrid it’s because you are special player. Otherwise you cannot be there for a long time."

"A final is special but what Manchester [United] are doing in last four five months, they are a completely different team to the one we played in the beginning of the season when we beat them here (6-3 at the Etihad).. They were much better when we played there (at Old Trafford) and lost, we played good but it's football."

"Now I have the feeling that they’ve improved since the beginning of the season. That is the reality. The patterns are more clear, the quality they have. It's United. The many years we're here we've done really well against them but it’s United, the quality of the players has always been there with Mourinho and other managers, always they were good."
