United to benefit from Southampton's relegation amid Taylor Booth's interest

According to rumors, Erik ten Hag is considering Taylor Booth, an American midfielder, as a replacement for Frenkie de Jong.

The interest shown by players like Jude Bellingham and De Jong suggests that the manager of Manchester United would prioritize adding players to the midfield this summer. However, both appear to be out of reach this summer as the former is moving closer to Real Madrid while the latter is expected to remain at Barcelona.

The Reds manager will consequently need to look elsewhere, and according to Fichajes, Ten Hag is interested in FC Utrecht sensation Booth. The 21-year-old has had a standout season, contributing to the Eredivisie scoring with two goals and three assists in 21 games.

After rejecting a contract offer from Bayern in favor of regular football, the American joined Utrecht last summer. Booth is a versatile and technically gifted athlete who has drawn similarities to De Jong for his quality in possession. He would match Ten Hag's desired profile at a discount, with the source claiming United could sign him for as little as €10 million.

Ruben Neves is reportedly a target for Barcelona, according to TalkSPORT, and Wolves are open to hearing proposals around the £45 million range.

Ruben Neves has generated attention at Old Trafford for some time, as manager Ten Hag is looking to bolster his midfield with a top-tier ball-player this summer.

The 26-year-old's contract will expire this summer, and the report states that he would be willing to leave Molineux. The article also states that Barcelona would be his first destination, but the Catalan club has not yet made an offer.

Following the confirmation of Southampton's relegation, Manchester United could move through with their ambitions to acquire Romeo Lavia.

Manchester United recorded its 16th Premier League clean sheet of the year over the weekend with Casemiro's assistance.

The Brazilian international has been a crucial addition to the Red Devils this season, but there has been a noticeable decline in quality when he is out.

The weekend's confirmation of Southampton's relegation could benefit Manchester United.

Romeo Lavia, a prospect for Southampton, has stood out as a possible Casemiro replacement this year. The Mail revealed in March that Manchester United was considering the midfielder.

19 year old Romeo Lavia only joined the saints from Manchester City last summer for £14 million and was a standout talent in their mid field despite a woeful campaign which will see them play in the English Championship next season.

The Belgian impressed on both meetings between the Red Devils and the Saints in the Premier League this season. Paul Scholes told BT Sport back in August: “I was surprised when City let him go I think he is good enough potentially.”

“He has got a pass in his locker and he is big and strong and likes to defend. He does not want to get forward too much and sits in-front of the back four and sets the play in motion from there.”

Although, Manchester City included a buy back clause in their former academy player's contract whilst selling him to Saint Mary's outfit. Manchester United can still push to acquire the 19 year old as their local rivals haven't shown any interest yet.

They are at advantage as the 19 year old mid fielder will want to remain in the Premier League while Southampton being relegated will bring his price tag down making him a cheap buy for Erik Ten Hag's side.

Romeo Lavia will be confident if getting plenty of playing times at Old Trafford although, he will be a backup for Casemiro who is now 31.

With Manchester United wanting to play more games next season, Romeo Lavia is certain to hit a huge number of starts as team rotation has become a necessity under Erik Ten Hag. Tyler Malacia's debut season at left back despite Luke Shaw's ever presence figure will encourage the youngster to become one of Erik Ten Hag's foundation needed for his rebuild.
