Man United recieves major Mac Allister's boost as Five man summer exit list is revealed

Amongst the Manchester United players set to be released in the summer are likely to be Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe according to Manchester Evening News

Due to a knee issue, Jones, 31, has only started two games in the past three years, and Tuanzebe, a fellow center back, 25, hasn't played for United since the Europa League final in 2021.

Jones has not worked out at all this year and was last seen on May 20 during a Carrington session. Since signing a new deal in February 2019, he has started 16 games and been replaced five times at halftime.

The year 2022 for Tuanzebe was once again marred by injuries, and he recently ended a four-month loan with Stoke City in the Championship, where he only appeared five times. Last month, Tuanzebe's brother and agent, Dimitri, visited United's Carrington training facility to get more information on his future.

Ethan Galbraith, a midfielder from Northern Ireland who is currently on loan at League Two team Salford, has been informed that his contract will expire and he will be released. In November 2019's Europa League group stage match against Astana, Galbraith made his sole senior United debut.

Ondrej Mastny, an academy goalkeeper, and Charlie Wellens, who had brief loans with Portadown and Oldham Athletic, are also expected to be let go. Mateo Mejia, a Spanish striker, too has an uncertain future.

Tom Heaton, the team's number two goalkeeper, has recently returned to full training following a foot injury. United must decide whether to extend his contract.

Nathan Bishop, a backup goalkeeper that United acquired from Southend United in January 2020, is also very close to the conclusion of his contract. Bishop, 23, has never participated in a United game.

Man United at advantage due to Mac Allister's latest development

Alexis Mac Allister would have to join Manchester United and Newcastle this summer in a rather spectacular way, but it would be at Liverpool's loss following the recent claims that the World Cup winner wants to play Champions League football.

Over the weekend, it was asserted that the Reds were "closing in" on the World Cup champion and were "willing to strike a £70 million deal."

However, Liverpool's prospects of signing the 24-year-old have been severely damaged by Andy Naylor, The Athletic's Brighton writer, who said that Mac Allister "wants Champions League football if he leaves Brighton this summer."

According to the report, the Seagulls "haven't given up hope of holding onto Mac Allister if they qualify for the Europa League," but if a Champions League-bound team approaches, the midfielder will probably be leaving.

After his team's 3-0 victory over Arsenal, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi acknowledged that the club will find it difficult to retain its finest players this summer.

However, according to The Athletic story, Mac Allister won't be moving to Liverpool, as he looks to avoid any form of mistakes from either Manchester United or Newcastle United in the race for Europe qualification.

On Monday night, Liverpool traveled to relegation-dangerous Leicester in an effort to cut United's lead to one point, However, the Red Devils will have a game in hand on the Reds despite Newcastle being above them on the points standings.

Newcastle and Manchester United have also been linked with a transfer for Mac Allister, and if participation in the Champions League is required, these two teams would now appear to be ahead of Liverpool in the competition for the midfielder.

The Athletic reported last week that a provision in Mac Allister's contract, which he signed in October and extends until 2025 with an additional year's option for Brighton, has a mechanism to aid in the midfielder's transfer with the club having a voice in the decision.
