The real reason why Erik Ten Hag wants a double striker's signing in summer transfer window

First of all this was the latest transfer development regarding Man United's hunt for a striker.

This summer, Manchester United plans to prioritize the search for a new goal striker.

Even though Erik ten Hag has had a solid season, Manchester United hasn't been scoring enough goals. The Red Devils have only scored 51 goals in 35 Premier League games, which is a much poorer goal differential than any of United's competitors.

It follows that Ten Hag's desire to sign a great striker is not surprising. The Reds are apparently interested in a move for Atalanta attacker Rasmus Hojlund as well as Harry Kane, the captain of Tottenham Hotspur.

According to The Times, Hojlund and Kane are both targets for United this summer as they are both strikers. Hojlundis a rising star, while Kane needs no introduction and is certainly at the top of Ten Hag's list.

Hojlund, 20, has made 29 appearances since joining Atalanta last summer and scored seven goals in that time. He may be offered for as much as £40 million, according to speculation.

Against Finland in March, the young striker scored a hat-trick for Denmark.

This will raise more questions about Anthony Martial's future, who has only scored 8 goals in 26 games this season. With 29 goals so far this season, Marcus Rashford is the club's top scorer.

Why Erik Ten Hag wants a double striker swoop in summer

The 2022/2023 League Cup champions,  FA Cup finalist, and nearly Champions League playing team next campaign. For supporters of Manchester United, these are thrilling times. And as they intensify their quest for a new center-forward or perhaps two, that's just going to grow.

Hughes, Mark. Van Nistelrooy, Ruud. Zlatan Ibrahimovic... United supporters do enjoy a center-forward. Intimidating. Courageous. Physical. It's a component that United's offense has been lacking lately. However, fixing it is something that will happen this summer.

Old Trafford faithfuls and their manager both adore a center-forward. And it's not far from the fact that Erik ten Hag will push for the signing of not one, but two new strikers this summer.

The top priority is, of course, Harry Kane. Ten Hag has spent the season studying Kane, as noted by tribal football. He is familiar with Kane.

However, he also used the data he obtained to create a profile of the player. His personality. His thinking. His ability to lead. No matter how absurd the demands of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy are, Ten Hag is confident that Kane is worth the money based on the extensive information in his bulging dossier.

It's the reason behind reports about Ten Hag 'pressing' United to prioritize the signing of Kane. The England captain is the "standard"; following his triumph over Wolves, he last week spoke with Harry Kane about his objectives for the summer market.

“I have to develop and to progress the team, and to of course plan," he declared. "I will go for high standards, so I am planning my squad for next season in the background, with high standards. Then it is up to the others to decide if the finances are there."

But Harry Kane has already stated that it's up to Tottenham Hotspur's chairman and the North London club's board to decide his future. Tribal football claimed that sources close to the England international suggests that "no decisions has been made yet" then stressed that the former Leicester City's forward still loves life at Tottenham Hotspur.

Ten Hag's worries, perhaps? Perhaps, but Kane's move to PSG will have a significant positive impact. In fact, if Luis Campos is successful in convincing Jose Mourinho to leave Roma next month, things may go his way. Kane is eager to collaborate with Mourinho once more. And both parties agree. Giving Mourinho access to PSG's riches would make them legitimate Champions League challengers. United will continue to be involved and will make Levy an offer in the interim.

However, it won't end there. Of course, Ten Hag has his priorities. But before the start of the following season, the Dutchman also wants to bring in a second center-forward through the Carrington Gates, a more youthful center forward, a venture, and potential successor to Kane who he and his staff can train and eventually bring through.

Because of this, John Murtough, the football director for United, dispatched scouts to watch Gift Orban score a hat-trick for KAA Gent against Cercle Brugge. Representatives from United were present a few days later to witness Goncalo Ramos score for Benfica in their 5-1 demolition of Portimonense. Officials from Portimonense informed United that they had applied for admission to the game.

And of course, United's interest in Atalanta's Danish sensation, Rasmus Hojlund, is now well known. So much so, that the player himself is happy to court United in public: "Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan."

“So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me (to join them)."

Indeed, Hojlund is the ideal candidate for that "project" player. His manner. He has certain physical traits and his character. They all have a Ten Hag's player ring to them. And the fact that United has intensified their efforts in the last six to eight months on the Scandinavian transfer market does indicate that Rasmus Hojlund is the first pick.

Ten Hag's work at Ajax has been discussed in the past in relation to what is anticipated from him at Old Trafford. And there is no exception in this center-forward scenario.

At one point when playing for Ajax, he had FOUR centre-forwards at his disposal: the seasoned Lasse Schone and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, the young Kasper Dolberg, and the developing Lassina Traore. He has nothing like that at United.

He doesn't have something like at United. Nowhere near. Even his efforts to encourage Marcus Rashford to play in the center of the field were eventually given up.

Therefore, United fans may expect a thrilling summer transfer window if all goes according to plan. They will be receiving two new center forwards at Old Trafford rather than just one.
