Nottingham Forest wants United's academy loanee on permanent basis amid goal keeper saga

Dean Henderson wants to join permanently to Nottingham Forest this summer from Manchester United.

At the beginning of the season, the England goalkeeper made a loan move to the West Midlands club and performed admirably for Forest.

The newly promoted team is still interested in signing him despite the fact that his season was cut short by injury after he tore his thigh on January 14 during a 2-0 victory over Leicester.

The Telegraph claims that Nottingham Forest will choose to buy Henderson during the forthcoming transfer window rather than keep Keylor Navas, who is presently on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

At the conclusion of the current season, the academy alum is scheduled to return to Carrington to train with his parent club.

Henderson, however, is anticipated to push for a move because he is certain that he wants to be given a position as the clear first choice.

He enjoyed his time in Nottingham and is eager to return to The City Ground, though United may put off talks for the time being given the uncertainty surrounding David de Gea's future.

Three goalkeepers from Man United's first team are currently on their way out of the organization.

The contracts of De Gea and Tom Heaton are up for renewal, and Jack Butland's Crystal Palace loan is coming to an end. While De Gea is anticipated to sign an extension on less favorable terms and the club may very well search for a new goalkeeper, the position is more than a bit understaffed.

However, Henderson has already spoken his opinions, and if he decides to pursue a permanent transfer, United is not likely to object.

This summer, Manchester United may need to make player sales to pay for new acquisitions, thus signing Dean Henderson could be advantageous for both parties. The club might be able to get a nice return for the 26-year-old due to his Premier League pedigree and status as a homegrown player.

With his place as first choice goalkeeper under the microscope, in the next summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano in an exclusive interview with GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United may "explore the market" to add a backup goalkeeper to David De Gea's roster at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag's options will be improved by the Red Devils during the forthcoming transfer window.

De Gea will reportedly have the option to extend his current £375,000 per week deal, which expires at the end of the current campaign, at Old Trafford. The Spaniard will reportedly have to accept a hefty pay cut and give up his position as the Red Devils' assured first-choice goalkeeper.

Earlier this month, journalist Steve Bates disclosed in his GIVEMESPORT column that United has three goalkeepers on its shortlist for long-term replacements of De Gea.

Giorgi Mamardashvili of Valencia, Diogo Costa of Porto, and David Raya of Brentford are all on the list as the Red Devils weigh their choices.

De Gea will probably sign a new contract at Old Trafford, according to journalist Dean Jones, who recently spoke to GIVEMESPORT.

And Romano concurs with this assessment, though he cautions that the 32-year-old may not be a lock to start the 2023–24 season.

After implying that a deal for a new contract for de Gea was about to be reached, Romano exclusively disclosed to GIVEMESPORT that a backup choice is being taken into consideration.

"It means that, of course, David de Gea will stay. But, from what I understand, the idea of Manchester United is to explore the market for a back-up goalkeeper who can create some competition."

"It's no guarantee that de Gea will always be the starter next season."

De Gea has had another strong season at United after making 55 appearances and recording 25 clean sheets. He also contributed to the Red Devils' 2-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

The 45-cap Spain international, though, came under fire after a mistake in United's humiliating 5-2 overall Europa League quarterfinal loss to Sevilla last month.

Given that the £17 million acquisition is already past the age of 30, United's management may think again about his future as they try to create a team in the vein of Ten Hag.

But for now, there is a good chance that De Gea will agree to a new deal at Old Trafford, indicating that the Dutchman still has faith in the seasoned captain at the back.

However, Raya, who is 27 years old, is destined to leave them in the summer because he only has a year left on his west London deal.

As the goalkeeper looks for a new challenge, Manchester United is one of the clubs who have been extensively connected with a move for him. According to Frank, Brentford is willing to sanction this move as long as certain conditions are met.

After their 3-1 victory over Tottenham, he commented on the shot-stopper, saying: "We know the rumors about Raya not being here next season, but right now he is here."

"You all know the price – £40m – and absolutely it’s realistic.

“I think it is too much, in general, the money that is paid in football. But in the current market and at his level, he has been at least a top-four keeper in the Premier League this season."

“If you look at those players, in such a crucial position, then I am not in doubt.”
