London clubs reportedly interested in Belgian striker as United leads race for Benfica's Goncalo Ramos

Several teams, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Fulham, sent scouts to observe Gift Orban, a striker for Gent.

At a rate of one goal per 75 minutes, the 20-year-old has scored 19 goals in 19 games so far this season in the Belgian Pro League and Europa Conference League.

The Nigerian Orban, who is having a breakout season, featured for Gent in both halves of their Conference League quarterfinal loss to West Ham in April. With five goals in three play-off games, he also assisted Gent in securing another season in the European competition.

Several elite clubs in Europe have sent scouts to watch him play, but Gent do not need to offload one of their most valuable players, who they only acquired from Stabaek of Norway at the end of January.

Since Orban has a contract that runs through 2027, Gent would only be enticed to sell for a significant profit. It's also known that Orban is content to remain and grow in Belgium for a while before looking to transfer.

Manchester United leading the race for Goncalo Ramos's signature

According to reports, Manchester United is first in line to sign Goncalo Ramos, a highly sought-after Benfica striker, this summer.

With 18 goals from 28 games this season, the Portugal international leads the Primeira Liga scoring rankings by one goal over colleague Joao Mario and Mehdi Taremi of Porto.

Ramos has overall provided 26 goals and 12 assists in 45 games across all competitions this season amid a continuous period of improvement, and with two games remaining, Benfica leads the Primeira Liga standings by four points.

The 21-year-old made headlines in Qatar with Portugal, scoring a hat-trick in their 6-1 last-16 victory over Switzerland, as well as helping the Eagles advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Ramos' three-year deal with the upcoming Portuguese champions puts Benfica under little pressure to sell him this summer, but their determination will undoubtedly be put to the test.

Top English clubs are reportedly attempting to lure Ramos away from Benfica this summer, but Record in Portugal claims that Manchester United are now in the lead.

The fact that Enes Unal of Getafe has reportedly been chosen by Benfica as the ideal replacement has also helped Erik ten Hag's team in their pursuit of the forward.

Ramos is thought to be on Chelsea's shortlist, and Roger Schmidt's team appears to be prepared for his potential departure by putting measures in place for it.

Ramos, who is approaching his tenth anniversary at Benfica after joining their academy ranks in 2013, is reported to be the target of a club-record offer from Man United in an effort to stave off interest from their London rivals.

Ramos, who reportedly has a €120 million (£104.4 million) release clause in his Benfica contract, has played 104 times for the Premier League powerhouses in all competitions and tallied 40 goals and 16 assists overall since making his senior debut.

The Eagles will be declared Primeira Liga champions if they defeat Sporting Lisbon on Sunday night, despite the striker's lack of big trophy wins with Benfica.

In order to compete with the injured Anthony Martial, Man United only signed Wout Weghorst on a temporary basis from Burnley in January, failing to find a permanent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who was headed to Al Nassr.

Weghorst is not anticipated to secure a permanent move to the Theatre of Dreams, and a poor year for Martial may mean the end of his time at the club as well, with just two goals to show for 28 games played while wearing a Red Devils jersey.

Three of Man United's main attacking targets have been identified as Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, Victor Osimhen of Napoli, and Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt. However, the Red Devils risk being priced out of deals for all three players.

Ten Hag reportedly wants to bring a headline midfield acquisition to Old Trafford along with a new top-tier striker. A new right-back and goalkeeper may also be on the cards.
