Journalist affirms Man United are still favorite to land Seria A Champion but move for French star downplayed

Erik ten Hag must make sure that he identifies targets that he would want to see wearing the red shirt next season, even though Man United still doesn't know who will be the club's owners at the start of the 2023–24 season.

The Dutchman will need to strengthen the squad in response if the Red Devils finish the current campaign in the Champions League spots, as is predicted, and the talent that enters Old Trafford must be of a high enough caliber to outperform those currently there.

Manu Kone, a young French midfielder for Borussia Monchengladbach, is one player that has reportedly been potentially considered. Senior journalist Jonathan Johnson, though, has all but ruled out the player moving to Manchester United.

"Kone’s a bit of an all rounder, and all action but I don’t think he’s necessarily ready for the jump up to Manchester United and the expectations that would come with that," he wrote in his exclusive CaughtOffside Substack.

"Equally, coming back to PSG, and being a French talent that they would have to pay quite significantly for, that would also present a number of challenges."

"I do think he’s a very interesting profile and he’s expecting to be on the move this summer. He’s developed well so far with ‘Gladbach, he’s certainly on the radar in terms of a potential French national team call up in the near future, and it just seems like he needs to find the right fit in order for him to develop further and reach the next level of his game which should ultimately put him in that top band of midfield talent."

Considering that he plays in central midfield and has the versatility to play either defensively or more offensively, it is obvious that he would be a player that would grace most teams; however, because he lacks Premier League experience, he is unlikely to be able to unseat players like Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.

"I’m just not sure that going to a team where he’s not guaranteed to be part of the starting XI – which would be the case at either PSG or United – would be the best move for him right now," Johnson continued.

"Depending what happens with ‘Gladbach moving forward, potentially staying on for another year might not actually be the worst for his development but it depends on that project and what they try to achieve with it."

In another development, Reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United are the "big favorites" to capture Napoli defender Kim Min-jae during the summer transfer window.

This month, the South Korean has been frequently associated with the Red Devils, and it has been asserted that he has given the go-ahead for a transfer.

Romano recently disclosed that United are the heavy favorites to sign the 26-year-old by triggering his release clause of less than €50 million on his Here We Go Podcast.

The Italian clarified, however, that nothing is firm at the time. The new owners will determine whether United makes a play for the center back, and Napoli has offered to extend his contract.

"Manchester United are the big favourites to sign Kim Min-jae by paying the release clause," he stated.

"This is the theory of Manchester United but they have not made any concrete bid or concrete step yet because it depends on the new owners first of all."

“Also Napoli, because Napoli are offering him the chance to stay with a long-term contract and higher release clause. But, Manchester United are there. The clause is not ready now. The clause is only valid in the first days of July and it is a bit less than 50 million euros.”

Since Min-jae's time in the Chinese Super League, United has been keeping a careful eye on him, and they now have a fantastic opportunity to sign him for a reasonable buy-out clause.

Dealing with them won't be simple, though. Min-jae's foreign club release clause won't go into effect until the first 15 days of July.

His entourage has also suggested that Champions League play would be important. Manchester City might offer United some competition for his services.

"The transfer to Manchester United is not true," the Napoli defender's agent told Star News. "Currently, Kim Min-jae is focusing on finishing the season."

"In the case of the English Premier League, the qualification to the Champions League or the final standings have not been decided. There is no need to move."

United must therefore put in a lot of effort to sign him. Deals could potentially be affected by the club's new owner during the transfer window.

United must therefore put in a lot of effort to sign him. Deals might also be contingent on the club's new owner being in charge during the transfer window.

Otherwise, this summer's budget might be constrained. Manager Erik ten Hag might not be able to spend a lot on other acquisitions because a star striker is needed.

Min-jae's superb ball-playing skills make him a fantastic acquisition. He has won 1.6 tackles and 4.7 duels per game while completing 91% of his passes this season.

Furthermore, the South Korean has averaged nearly four clearances each appearance. Only four players in the top five leagues in Europe have managed more than 3,000 touches, including him.

Additionally, the defender has a commanding physical and aerial presence in the box. With the Red Devils in the Premier League the following season, he so possesses all the necessary skills.
