"I am sure"- Arsenal Legend makes major claim about Jadon Sancho ahead of next campaign

Ian Wright believes that despite Jadon Sancho's difficulties this year, he will improve and fit in at Manchester United the following year.

Sancho played 40 times for United this season in all competitions, although he only contributed seven goals and three assists.

When he didn't play for the Red Devils from the end of December to the end of January of 2023, there were worries for his future. Manager Erik ten Hag supposedly sent him to the Netherlands to maintain his fitness levels while the World Cup was going on.

When he came back at the beginning of February, he helped United finish third in the league by tallying four goals and two assists.

When he returned at the beginning of February, the 23-year-old went on to finish the season with four goals and two assists as United took third place in the league.

Fans anticipated him to take off when the Old Trafford club signed him from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021 for £73million (per Sky Sports), but it hasn't been simple for the England international.

Wright, though, asserted on Match of the Day that Sancho will progress in the upcoming campaign. “We know the capability of this guy, we know what he’s capable of in terms of his skill, he’ll beat people and once he gets that main focal point, like he had at Dortmund with Marco Reus, he will do his stuff because we are talking about somebody who ability-wise, is absolutely top drawer."

“With the money they paid for him, they’ll want more goals and assists – but I am sure they are coming and he’s starting to settle.”

However, Manchester United's legend Dwight Yorke last week suggested that the 23 year old is on borrowed time after struggling yet still in his second season at Old Trafford.

Yorke told The Mirror: "Somehow the transition from there to Manchester hasn't really worked out in the way that we all thought it might for him. Really struggled, whether it's from a mental point of view, which seems to be well documented. He hasn't really really lived up to the price tag.

"So yeah, he's on borrowed time, I suppose, if you have to be fair in many respects. He hasn't really produced the goods that we expect him."

In order to build on their Carabao Cup victory from earlier this season, United will face off against local rivals Manchester City. They also hope to prevent Pep Guardiola's team from achieving a treble, which only United themselves have accomplished since 1999.
