A dozen of clubs wants Elanga as Juan Mata's transfer repetition is being eyed by United amid Mason Mount rumors

Over 12 clubs are allegedly interested in signing Manchester United's Anthony Elanga this summer. According to a Daily Mail transfer round-up, the Swedish international is eager to take on a fresh challenge.

Due to the introduction of Antony and Marcus Rashford's performance under Erik ten Hag, Elanga's playing time has been significantly decreased. Jadon Sancho fills in on either flank when one of the pair is substituted.

So far this season, the 21-year-old has made just seven starts across all competitions and another 19 substitute appearances, going without a goal and providing two assists.

There is a risk that Elanga could drop even farther down the pecking order now that Ten Hag is enthusiastic about boosting his team for the upcoming campaign.

In the previous two transfer windows, he was rumored to be leaving Old Trafford, but a deal finally fell through. He may exert pressure on the team to handle his departure now that he has experienced nine months of routinely warming the bench.

A loan move is a possible alternative. Since Elanga graduated from Carrington and went directly from the academy to the first team, Ten Hag might change his mind about releasing the attacker if he can succeed in the first squad of another club.

Trending topic on Chelsea playemaker Mason Mount, has reportedly caught Manchester United's attention recently, and there is rising talk that he might be headed to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has just one year left on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, according to a report from The Daily Mail published late last week. The Athletic's David Ornstein later claimed that the midfielder is "leaning towards" a move to United if he leaves the Blues this summer.

In response to those reports, journalist Sam Pilger has now disclosed on Twitter that there is "increasing confidence" among staff members at the Theatre of Dreams that a deal for the former Derby County loanee can be completed before the start of the following season.

The 36-cap wonder, who was previously valued at around £70 million, could very well be sold by the west London club if a new contract cannot be reached, according to the transfer insider's article for Optus Sport. Erik ten Hag reportedly sees Mount as a 'possible upgrade' on Christian Eriksen.

Since the turn of the century, United has a history of recruiting players from Chelsea, including Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata from their Premier League opponents.

In the case of Mount, the Three Lions star's acquisition would bring to mind Mata, a fellow midfielder who joined David Moyes and company in January 2014 for £37.1 million.

The Spaniard also helped the Blues win Europe's prized honor in 2012, having established himself as a key role in the capital after producing 90 goals and assists in just 135 games across all fronts, much like Mount, who guided his present team to Champions League triumph back in 2021.

The World Cup winner decided to move to Manchester in search of more playing time after experiencing a "difficult" period under Jose Mourinho. He would go on to score 51 goals and provide 47 assists in 285 appearances before his departure last summer.

Although he was a dependable employee for United during his eight and a half-year stay, the 35-year-old seemingly never reached the heights he did at Stamford Bridge, as evidenced by his return of goals and assists, having spent most of his time at the club playing on the right wing rather than in his preferred number ten position.

If Mount moves this summer, there will be concern that he would take a similar route despite Jacek Kulig's praise for him as a "little genius." It is also unknown what position the Portsmouth native would play under Ten Hag.

Although Mount spent most of his time with the Blues as an offensive midfielder, Bruno Fernandes' presence in that position may compel Mount to play elsewhere, preventing Ten Hag and company from seeing the best of his abilities.

With the signing of the £80k per week asset, the Red Devils may be considering Mata 2.0.
