Sparta Prague reportedly considering signing on loan Man United's goalie Matej Kovar permanently

Matej Kovar, a talented young player for Manchester United, is still on loan at Sparta Prague.

Although Matej Kovar is on loan in the Czech Republic and out of sight, his recent achievement merits some notice. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who joined Sparta Prague on a season-long loan, has solidly cemented himself as a regular starter.

Following opponent Slavia Prague's slip-up, which resulted in a 1-1 tie in their match, Sparta Prague's 2-0 victory over the weekend has propelled the team to the top of the league.

Sparta Prague, led by Matej Kovar, have won nine straight games to climb into first place in the Czech premier division, where they now lead by two points.

They have won 12 out of their previous 13 games, with the other game ending in a draw. Kovar has only experienced defeat once since signing.

That was a game against Slavia, a team Sparta will play next weekend in a game that is crucial for the top of the league.

This season still has a ton of games left, but the Manchester United loanee is gaining valuable experience and finding it somewhat more pleasurable than his previous loan stints at Swindon Town and Burton Albion.

Kovar has a deal with Manchester United that runs through 2025. Sparta may try to sign him permanently in the summer, particularly if they make the Champions League.

He is up for the challenge, telling iSport: “It’s great that there are still so many games left until the end of the season. As a goalkeeper, you don’t put much physical strain on yourself, it’s all about your head. It’s challenging to concentrate for ninety minutes.”

Following a 2-1 victory over Hradec Kralove in 2022, Sparta Prague head coach Brian Priske referred to Manchester United goalie Matej Kovar as the "future of Czech football."

In an effort to play more frequently for the first team, the 22-year-old, who originally signed with United in 2018, made a season-long loan move to the Czech powerhouses in early September. Prior to his departure, he signed a new contract at Old Trafford that would last until the summer of 2025, emphasizing how great

"I was glad when the opportunity arose to get [Kovar]," said Priske. "We have also created new competition among our goalkeepers. He shows exactly what we expected from him. He is a tall young goalkeeper and his performance today was very good."

"At the same time, I'm glad he finally got a win. He made a number of excellent saves and has a big part to play in the victory. Although he behaved differently than usual in several situations in the first half, he is the future of Czech football."

The goalie situation for Manchester United for the upcoming season is currently unclear. Kovar is a potential spoiler to consider.

He will represent the Czech Republic this summer at the European under-21 championships, which is expected to extend his current season.

Meanwhile, Giorgi Mamardashvili, 22, is a shot-stopper under Chelsea's radar and is also wanted by Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

CalcioMercatoWeb claims that Chelsea are in the lead in the competition to recruit Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer. The 22-year-old shot-stopper has been outstanding for the Spanish club, and clubs all around Europe have taken notice of him thanks to his achievements.

Mamardashvili first attended the youth academy in Tbilisi, Inamo. He advanced through the club's ranks before returning to Valencia in the summer of 2021 on a six-month initial loan. His outstanding performances in Spain led to a long-term contract in the following winter.

During his career with the club, the 22-year-old has played in 52 games and has 16 clean sheets. The international from Georgia has only allowed 58 goals while representing the La Liga outfit.

In his 31 appearances thus far this season, Mamardashvili has seven clean sheets. Although the 22-year-old's contract with the club expires in the summer of 2027, the degree of interest in him suggests that he may leave the club before then.

The Georgian international may be available for less than his €100 million release clause. And it won't be a surprise to see him move in the upcoming season considering the spending power of the clubs involved.

Due to recent performances by Kepa Arrizabalaga and Édouard Mendy, Chelsea is eager to hire a new goalkeeper. Due to injury, Mendy has been unable to play, while Arrizabalaga has shown uneven play.

Both of their keepers' futures are in doubt, and one of them is probably going to leave in the summer. The 22-year-old may be a fantastic addition to their team and might help the Blues, who have had a terrible season thus far, get back on track.

However, they will have to contend with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. To challenge David de Gea for the starting position, Erik ten Hag is eager to recruit a new goalkeeper. Even the future of the Spanish shot-stopper is out in the air because he has not signed a new deal. Additionally, signing Mamardashvili might be a wise choice.

Also interested in the 22-year-old is Tottenham. Hugo Lloris' successor is being sought. The London club believes it is time to sign a new keeper since the former French international is deteriorating and will assist them end their trophy drought.

While the player's reps were recently in London, they spoke with Chelsea about a prospective transfer. It will be intriguing to watch if they can prevail in the transfer battle as a result.

Brentford's David Raya set to reject contract extension

David Raya, a goalkeeper who has been linked to Manchester United, will not extend his deal with Brentford. Transfer Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the Spaniard has decided not to sign a new deal to extend his time with the Bees.

According to the Daily Mail, United and Tottenham Hotspur are two clubs that are interested in pursuing a deal with Raya. Raya wants to join a "top club."

Even though his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, he might try to get moved at the end of the current campaign. In such case, Thomas Frank has suggested a price of at least £40 million.

Stretty News reports that because of the ongoing talks between the team and current No. 1 David de Gea, who is anticipated to agree to an extended agreement with lower pay, United are now unlikely to rekindle their interest in the 27-year-old.

Erik ten Hag appears to be confident that De Gea will be the starting goalkeeper at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future, thus they won't spend as much money on a backup or rotation stopper.
