Manchester United delivers Mason Greenwood's verdict amid Marcus Rashford's injury fears

Following his injury against Everton on Saturday, Marcus Rashford is currently causing Manchester United some concern. The England international left the match at Old Trafford on a limp, and rumors now indicate that he may be out for weeks. Mason Greenwood, though, is still unavailable for selection, thus he won't be selected as a replacement between now and the end of the season.

On Saturday, Manchester United easily defeated Everton, scoring goals from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial to earn all three points. But Rashford's injury, which forced him to limp down the tunnel in the 81st, ruined their afternoon.

Erik ten Hag didn't sound pleased when he spoke following the game: “We have to wait [on Rashford’s injury], it doesn’t look good,” stated the 53-year-old. “Once again it’s down to the schedule, you can’t play three games in six days. Everyone wants to see big players on the pitch."

“He played against Fulham, he played against Betis, he’s playing for England so he’s fit, he’s ready to play and the thinking is we have the most crazy schedule from all the Premier League teams."

“We have three games to cover in six days – which is not right, but we have to deal with it.”

Marcus Rashford's absence will be difficult for United to manage, but Greenwood won't be joining the team anytime soon.

Since January 2022, when Rashford scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over West Ham, the 21-year-old hasn't appeared for the team.

Mason Greenwood's charges were dropped in February, clearing the way for him to resume his football career. Regardless of what else is going on at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have made it clear they won't rush into a decision with their No. 11.

The earliest Greenwood will start training again is the next season because United is still looking into the matter. The Red Devils forward, whose contract is now set to expire in 2025, has recently expressed to club authorities his desire to play again. United insist, however, that they are investigating the circumstances of his detention thoroughly.

They are also aware that, at this point in their campaign, making a contentious decision could hurt their prospects of having a successful season. United, who under Ralf Rangnick finished sixth last year, is fighting to be in the top four.

They are still in the running to win the Europa League, which will include Sevilla on Thursday. (8pm). Additionally, they are looking to win the FA Cup, since United will play Brighton in that competition's semi-final later this month.

According to reports, there is disagreement at United about whether Greenwood should return and continue his first-team responsibilities. He should be given a chance to demonstrate his value, according to football department staff, who are making this allegation.

Meanwhile, in regards to Rashford, Stephen Warnock recently asserted that the amazing performance this season by the England international was due to Cristiano Ronaldo's departure in November.

“Ronaldo might have rubbed off on him,” the former Liverpool star said.

“Rashford will have seen what hard work and dedication can lead to but then it’s down to him to do it so huge credit to him for wanting to get better."

“Once Ronaldo was moved out, Rashford became the main man and a lot can crumble having that weight and expectation on their shoulders."

“He’s embraced it.”
