Lessons learnt as Victor Lindelof's goal line clearance gives United three points against Aston Villa

Manchester United welcomed Aston Villa to Old Trafford with the goal of winning all three points and securing their Champions League qualification.

A slightly different starting lineup from the one that played against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday was chosen by Erik ten Hag.

Tyrell Malacia was reinstated to the starting lineup by United's manager. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was moved to the sidelines, while Diogo Dalot was given the right-back position.

Antony was also removed from the starting lineup in favor of Marcel Sabitzer, who was chosen over the Brazilian winger.

Bruno Fernandes was in charge of playing the right wing. In the 10 Sabitzer participated.

The 1-0 victory over Aston Villa by Manchester United taught us three things.

Man United responds to Erik Ten Hag's reckoning

A problem that has surfaced in recent games is United's inability to finish off games and muster comprehensive performances.

On Thursday, the Red Devils let a two-goal advantage against Tottenham slip away. In the Europa League match against Sevilla at Old Trafford, the same thing occurred.

A common concern is that United would play well in the first half before fading and losing steam in the second.

Ten Hag identified this problem and highlighted it as one that required quick attention in the lead-up to the Tottenham game.

Before his team faced Villa, he expressed the same views. Victor Lindelof, who played well alongside Casemiro, also assisted United in preventing Villa from getting close to David de Gea's net.

Since joining the team, the Swede has made a strong impression. He and Luke Shaw have a strong working relationship, and they were at it again.

Every inquiry posed to Lindelof was met with a response.

He headed the ball off the line twice, both times saving the match. Once from a Douglas Luiz attempt, which appeared to have given Villa parity again.

The 28-year-old was a formidable defensive presence overall and once again demonstrated why he will remain at Old Trafford after this summer. The Reds played strong defense as a group and as a whole. The players earned the clean sheet as a reward for their valiant efforts.

Vintage Casemiro

One of the most striking aspects of United's encounter against Unai Emery's team was how much better Casemiro performed than in prior outings.

By his own extraordinarily high standards, Casemiro has been a little disappointing since returning from suspension.

The Brazilian, however, was just outstanding and a defensive juggernaut against Aston Villa from his deep-lying position.

Casemiro made more accurate and clean passes. His tackles and defensive play were calculated and deliberate.

He marshaled the middle of the park effectively and read the game well, much as he did before his most recent ban.

Casemiro continued the game's second half with the same dominant performance he had in the first. His teammates were given permission to forward and attack Villa's defense because he held down the center of the field.

The desire among United supporters is that Casemiro maintains such high levels at least through the end of the season in light of his outstanding performance.
