Inter Milan names Bastoni's price tag as United's interest in Fulham's Palhinha continues

This summer, Manchester City and Manchester United can anticipate receiving a bid for €52 million (£46.5 million) to sign Inter Milan center-back Alessandro Bastoni.

Despite his ardent desire to remain in the blue and black jersey, the 24-year-old has not yet extended his contract with the Nerazzurri past the end of the upcoming season.

A number of teams are waiting to seize on any unpredictability around his contract status because he became as one of the top center backs on the continent during his tenure at San Siro.

The 24-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, who was then managed by Bastoni's previous manager Antonio Conte, but his agent said he would not leave Inter.

The defender wants to extend his deal with Simone Inzaghi's team, but no deal has been reached as of yet. If nothing changes, he may become a free agent in 2024, which would put teams like Manchester City and Manchester United on high alert.

When the current campaign comes to a conclusion, Inter is anticipated to advance contract discussions with Bastoni; nevertheless, they may feel forced into selling this summer in order to prevent losing him on a free transfer, as will be the case with Milan Skriniar, who is headed to Paris Saint-Germain.

If Bastoni and Inter are finally unable to come to terms on a new contract, according to Fichajes, the Italian powerhouses will seek at least €52 million (£46.5 million) in order to allow the center-back to depart.

Both Manchester clubs would have little trouble paying Inter's demand, and Bastoni may anticipate earning more money in the Premier League given the Nerazzurri's financial woes.

The Italian's wage is believed to be the primary sticking point in negotiations with Inter as the Nerazzurri have only put up a €4m (£3.6m) offer without add-ons, according to a second report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bastoni earned a €31.1m (£27.8m) transfer to Inter in 2017 after graduating from the Atalanta BC development program, but not before he was loaned out again to La Dea and Parma.

In 151 appearances while wearing an Inter jersey, the 24-year-old has contributed three goals and 14 assists. This season, he has set up six goals in 33 games from the center of the backline.

If the out-of-favor Aymeric Laporte leaves, Man City will be in the market for a new center defender, and Bastoni would be a less expensive option than Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig.

Meanwhile, Man United will lose Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe this summer, and there are still questions over Harry Maguire's and Victor Lindelof's futures (the latter of whom is rumored to be joining Inter).

The news that Lisandro Martinez would miss the remainder of the season due to a fractured metatarsal sustained in Thursday's Europa League match against Sevilla struck a devastating defensive blow to the Red Devils on Friday evening.

There is hope that Raphael Varane will play again before the season is through after leaving the quarterfinal first-leg draw with a foot injury.

Manchester United may yet be able to profit from RB Leipzig's growing reluctance to commit Dani Olmo to a long-term contract. The Spaniard 'is not averse' to an alternate ending in England but is reportedly particularly excited about the possibility of a transition to Barcelona in La Liga.

“Another Bundesliga midfielder hotly discussed in the Premier League is Dani Olmo. The Spaniard would like to join FC Barcelona, but is not averse to a move to England,” Christian Falk exclusively revealed in his latest Fact Files for CaughtOffside.

“Manchester United are also among those interested whilst Leipzig are struggling to renew Olmo’s contract. The problem: Olmo wanted to have an immediate release clause for the summer of 2023 in the new contract."

“Originally, two clauses were agreed in the first round of negotiations last summer – one generally for any interested party (around €70-75m) and one for his home and desired destination Spain (around €60m)."

“Chief amongst Leipzig’s fears is the possibility of a club signing Olmo shortly before the end of the transfer deadline – leaving the side with minimal time to find a replacement. In order to future-proof, Olmo should definitely stay for at least another year.”

The Red Devils may not have asked for a better moment to sign one of their targets this summer given that his contract is now slated to expire in 2024 and that the Spanish team is experiencing financial difficulties.

The 24-year-old Bundesliga star would lower the midfield age average for United; While Jadon Sancho and Antony continue to underperform in terms of goal production, they also provide the team with an outlet on either wing, which is an important aspect.

Olmo, who typically plays as an offensive midfielder, has had some success on the wings, contributing to six of his 10 goals this season from positions farther forward.

Of course, his rate of four goals this season wouldn't have lessened the forward line's blatant over-dependence on Marcus Rashford, but it remains to be seen where the player's long-term place would be on an Erik ten Hag club.

Manchester United still monitoring Palhinha

Fulham's Palhinha, is a target for Man United. Manchester United has been linked with a move to sign a new midfielder throughout this week.

This pattern will last over the weekend. This time, the Red Devils appear to be focusing on Palhinha of Fulham. Just a few days ago, The Sun reported on the rumor, saying that United is'monitoring' the status of the 27-year-old midfielder, who has excelled since joining the Premier League.

Although they have their sights set on Mateus Uribe, 32, as a replacement should they be forced to sell Palhinha during the forthcoming window, Fulham would seek £60m to allow their star player to leave.

Palhinha is a player who would strengthen this United team because of his intense work ethic, natural talent, and winning mentality. The fact that Fulham only paid £20m to sign him not that long ago, and they’re ready to triple their money, tells you everything you need to know about exactly how good he’s been.

According to reports, United will sign Palhinha in the "coming weeks," strengthening a midfield group that, aside of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, has been erratic.

Due to the fact that Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay, and Fred have all used flattery to gain an advantage, Erik ten Hag might consider hiring a fresh face in this transfer window.

Palhinha would unquestionably be a positive move. The fact that he has Premier League experience gives me confidence in my expectation that he may join the team right away and contribute highly right away.
