Chelsea and Man United set to rival each other for PSG duos signature

Since the beginning of the current campaign, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been looking for a new right-back, and it appears that a summer transfer is imminent.

Diogo Dalot was effective in the first half of the season as the United boss decided to use him as the team's de facto right back.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was on the verge of departing in January due to his performance and injury, but the Portuguese full-back's injury during the World Cup gave the Englishman a path back.

To be fair to the former Crystal Palace star, he has been among the best players and has been selected for the most important matches. The manager has praised his contribution both offensively and defensively.

However, as was evident during the Tottenham game, the manager substituted him because of his closing down and generally sluggish attitude.

With Jeremie Frimpong one of the favorites to sign with Old Trafford in the summer, there is still a chance that the team will move him on to make room for a more offensive option.

United has reportedly joined Premier League rivals in the chase for Paris Saint-Germain player Achraf Hakimi, according to Football Insider. The full-back might be sold by the French champions for £50–60 million, and both English teams are prepared to make that kind of investment to retain his services.

“Paris Saint-Germain are open to offers for Chelsea target Achraf Hakimi this summer."

The French giants are planning a major rebuild of their squad, with the club eager to bring in more youngsters instead of signing established superstars.

“PSG have placed a £50-60million price tag on Hakimi, with Chelsea and Manchester United both showing interest in the 24-year-old,” the report added.

The Moroccan has been a constant in the first squad since his 2021 £60 million transfer from Inter Milan. Across all competitions, he has made 36 appearances and recorded four goals and five assists.

He has additionally demonstrated his versatility by occasionally playing as a right midfielder, with PSG making use of his offensive flair in specific matches.

In the event that PSG is actually looking to sell, United will struggle because Chelsea has been a longtime admirer. But they can surely try, and Ten Hag's plans would be ideal with the 24-year-old in them.

In addition, Neymar, a player for Brazil, has been rumored to be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has played an important role for the French team throughout the years, and according to Fichajes, Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing him.

The Brazilian is a top-tier player who has established himself at the highest level for a number of years, and the two English clubs may find him to be a valuable addition.

Neymar might help Chelsea with their offensive issues since they will need to add more quality in the last third of the field.

The Blues have struggled to produce goals this year, and the signing of the 31-year-old will undoubtedly give the Chelsea attack some much-needed grit. Neymar is a superb playmaker in addition to a proven goal scorer.

The Brazilian can routinely score goals and provide to extra opportunities for his teammates to score goals. He is also adaptable enough to play any position among the front three. This season, Neymar has contributed to 17 assists and 18 goals in all competitions.

Manchester United will need to find a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the team in the middle of the season. Marcus Rashford has been unduly relied upon by the Red Devils, and the England international will require more assistance from his teammates in the upcoming campaign.

Wout Weghorst joined Manchester United on loan in January, but he hasn't performed well so far and will return to his parent club this summer.

Neymar would be a significant improvement, but it is unclear whether the Brazilian would be interested in joining any of the two English clubs.

In other news, In the midst of Kaoru Mitoma's outstanding breakout season in England, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has disclosed when top Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal will be able to recruit him.

In August 2021, Brighton acquired Mitoma from Kawasaki Frontale of Japan. The Seagulls spent €3 million to sign the winger, according transfermarkt.

In an effort to get playing experience in Europe, Mitoma spent the previous season on loan with Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium. Despite doing well, the left-sided attacker did not dominate the Jupiler Pro League. In 29 games, he totaled eight goals and four assists.

Almost no one will have anticipated Mitoma to be as influential this term as he has been. Due to his speed, dribbling prowess, and close control, he has been nothing short of a nightmare for opposing defenses. He is great at escaping small spaces so that he can either provide a dangerous cross into the box or take a shot.

Mitoma, who has 10 goals and 7 assists in 33 games for Brighton under De Zerbi, has been one of the team's top players. Top performances by the 25-year-old have led to ties with some major teams. This summer, Man Utd and Arsenal are expected to make approaches, and Chelsea is rumored to be keeping tabs on his status.

De Zerbi was questioned about the rising interest in Mitoma prior to Brighton's game against Wolves. Although it won't be later this year, the Italian coach acknowledged Mitoma will eventually leave the Amex.

"He needs to stay here one more year, for him and for us,” De Zerbi said (via Fabrizio Romano).

Brighton's contract with Mitoma expires in June 2025. Accordingly, the club will probably sell him next summer while they can still get a good price for him.

Mitoma's possible suitors have already been given a £70 million price tag by Brighton, although this figure may fluctuate according on the player's performance, level of fitness, and proximity to the conclusion of his contract.

Any of the "big six" Premier League clubs would benefit greatly from adding Mitoma. He has demonstrated at Brighton that he can cause problems for just about any defense because of his skill and judgment in the final third.

The 15-cap Japan international, though, needs to be careful when deciding where to go next. He doesn't want to join a team where all he will do is sit on the bench and back up their current left winger.

Marcus Rashford is already on the roster for Man Utd, Gabriel Martinelli is a reliable option for Arsenal, while Mykhaylo Mudryk cost Chelsea an astounding £89 million earlier this year. As a result, Mitoma might completely reject the "big six" and sign with Newcastle.

While Allan Saint-Maximin is getting closer to a Tottenham move, Eddie Howe currently plays Joelinton on the left. A move for Mitoma would make sense if Howe intends to start utilising Joelinton in midfield once more.
