Todd Boehly reportedly orders Chelsea to outbid Man United and Tottenham for Leeds United's star

While Manchester United are reportedly considering bringing in a replacement for David De Gea amid a new contract extension talks with the 31 year old, Teamtalk has claimed that Chelsea new onwer Todd Boehly has given green light for the blues management to outbid the Red Devils for Leeds United's shot stopper Illan Meslier.

According to FI, Chelsea's board has placed Illan Meslier's name forward in response to Potter's request for a new goalkeeper. The position Graham Potter wants to strengthen this summer has been communicated to the Chelsea board, and the Blues are allegedly willing to outbid both Manchester United and Tottenham for a Leeds Utd star.

The Frenchman, who has previously been linked with Man Utd and Tottenham, is generally thought to be a future France international.

Indeed, Phil Hay of the Athletic's Leeds bureau claimed in the past that Spurs were considering a move for Meslier to replace the obviously aging Hugo Lloris. As they look for a long-term replacement for David de Gea, Man Utd placed Meslier on the radar in February, according to The Sun.

According to FI, Chelsea has 'joined the race' to acquire Meslier. If a bidding war breaks out, they're allegedly ready to "outbid" Spurs and Manchester United. Chelsea, however, thinks that signing Meslier might not break the budget in any case.

According to reports, Leeds has valued their No. 1 at more than £30 million, though that cost could fall if they are demoted to the Championship. Ahead of the Premier League games on Saturday, the Whites are presently ranked 19th.

As such, replacing Mendy with the much younger Meslier at Stamford Bridge may only require a minimal net expenditure if both deals are completed.
