" i see today another step"- Erik Ten Hag reveals what he told 18 year old as he hails his impact in FA Cup victory

Alejandro Garnacho, a forward for Manchester United, scored an important goal in a standout performance against West Ham United, and Erik ten Hag believes this represents a new step in the young man's growth.

As stoppage time approached, the score remained tied at 1-1. Our number 49 curled home a lovely finish to give us the lead and send Old Trafford into chaos. This prevented an additional 30 minutes of extra time and guaranteed our place in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Nayef Aguerd's own goal and Garnacho's winner came in the final quarter of an hour after Manchester United had fallen behind to a Said Benrahma goal early in the second half. Fred added a goal even deeper into stoppage time.

In addition to his goal-scoring prowess, Garnacho put on a spirited and noteworthy performance down the left flank, earning praise from his boss in the press conference following the game.

“I see it, I see today another step,” Ten Hag told reporters after the game.

“I said to him before the game, ‘It’s getting time you have an impact when you come on, but now you have to have an impact as a starter.’ I think he’s capable of it. So that is the next step he has to make.”

Later, when questioned if Garnacho's fearlessness in possession was his best quality, Ten Hag responded that while he concurs that it is an important component of our no. 49's game, there are many other qualities he possesses as well.

“This is one of his skills, but definitely it’s a great skill when you’re fearless, when you’re brave," Erik Ten Hag added.

“It’s a skill so specific there are not so many players in world football who can take players on or capable, they just go play and just outplay and out-dribble them. And that skill, he has. But he has more skills than only that, for example, finishing."

“But also, I see he has big energy, he is fast, he has speed, but he can keep running, for 90 minutes, for 120 minutes, it doesn’t matter how long, he can do it.”

Alejandro Garnacho scored his fourth goal of the season, and two of them have come in the dying seconds. The youth previously scored in the third minute of stoppage time during a 2-1 victory away at Fulham in November; Fulham is the team we will play in the FA Cup's next round.
