Fans concur with Erik Ten Hag over Wout Weghorst's vital role in Man United's attack since his arrival

Manchester United's manager has concurred with the fans over the influence of striker Wout Weghorst and claims the 30-year-old Dutchman is one of the Red Devils' best players on the pitch.

Wout Weghorst has been criticized ever since he completed his loan move to Old Trafford for his lack of eyes for goal. However, the Burnley loanee has shown the versatility side of his game and also helped in the Red Devils' attack by pressing higher up the pitch. His notable impact is his ability to draw opponents to himself while creating space for his teammates to have a shot at goal.

The 30-year-old's persistent pressing forced West Ham's defense to give the ball away in their own box, and Fred was swift to put the ball away into the back of the net; he was also involved when West Ham's Aguerd inadvertently put the ball into his own net while defending a United corner kick.

Erik Ten Hag has indicated that the striker's ability to get into positions in and out of play, plus his game intelligence, are the key attributes he found in the Burnley loanee.

“I think he was one of the best players on the pitch,” Ten Hag told reporters in his post-match press conference.

“He was involved to see [win] the corner back, but maybe he was also there in front; he came up with Harry [Maguire] to force his own goal."

“But I think for the Garnacho goal, he was pressing in the switch of play." "And definitely in the third goal, when he forced the opponent to make a mistake so Fred could score."

“I think he understands how to position himself in and out of possession." "And he’s doing a really good job for the team.”

Fans who were frustrated by the Dutch striker's lack of goals appear to be beginning to understand and appreciate his impact on the pitch. It was evidenced by how they showered him with praise on social media.

relentless pressure on the opponent's defense every single time.

There's a reason Erik Ten Hag left him on the pitch.

"I don't care that Wout Weghorse never scores. We've scored two or more goals in every single game since the start of February. He's a team player, and we're a better team with him right now.

Work horse!"

The striker has scored just once since his January arrival, despite starting all available games since then. Erik Ten Hag is however optimistic about the 30 year old picking up his form in front of goal.

"That will come,” Ten Hag continued. “I have the experience of working with so many players. I refer often to Rashford at the start of the season; he also [had not] scored in every game."

“But I know from my experience that it will come once he’s more settled down." Of course, he has a lot of games with us in a not-so-long period."

“When he’s been here longer, the routines will be there, and when he has the next goal, more will come.”
