Man United's possible starting eleven against Barcelona in Europa League clash

Manchester United have seven first team players not included in the squad that travelled to Spain on Wednesday evening ahead of the Thursday clash in the Europa League knock out phase.

The duo of Marcel Sabitzer and Lisandro Martinez are out due to suspension, they have accumulation of booking and are expected to serve a one match ban.

Anthony Martial, Antony Santos and Scott McTominay are out due to injury, however, Erik Ten Hag gave a positive update about their potential return to the squad, enquiries were made about the trio ahead of the Carabao Cup final showdown with Newcastle United at Wembley.

“It looks good,” replied Ten Hag, in his media briefing at the Nou Camp.

“I think they are on the way back. They are coming back in the training squad, [with] the individual [training work]. 

“At the end of the week, maybe Scott can begin training with the team and after the weekend maybe Antony [can do that too], but we have to see. 

“They are making progress, [that is] what we see now.”

Christian Eriksen and Donny Van De Beek are long term absentees, expected to return towards the climax of the season, especially Van De Beek.

For the hosts' first leg on Thursday, Xavi will be missing two important players.

Due to an ankle injury, veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets, who played against United in the Champions League finals in 2009 and 2011, will miss the game. However, he could play in the rematch at Old Trafford the following week.

It is being reported in the media that winger Ousmane Dembele is expected to miss both games through injury.

Possible lineup

Defense

David De Gea will obviously start between the sticks, Raphael Varane could be paired with Luke Shaw while Wan Bissaka and Tyler Malacia starts at full back roles.

Mid Field

Casemiro will return to the starting lineup to partner Fred while Bruno Fernandes will star in a more advanced role.

Attack 

Marcus Rashford will be expected to start on the left wing while Jadon Sancho starts on the right with Wout Weghorst spearheading thw attack.
