United scouts 100% cleansheet Swedish goal keeper amid Dean Henderson's surgery

Leopold Wahlstedt, a Sweden international, is a target for Manchester United.

Leopold Wahlstedt, a Swedish international, has been observed by Manchester United's chief scout in Scandinavia, according to The Mail.

Goalkeeper Wahlstedt debuted for Sweden earlier this year at the age of 23. The 6' 2" goalie, who is seen as a rising talent, is reportedly attracting interest from other Premier League teams.

Leopold Wahlstedt joined Odds BK in 2021 and currently plays for the Norwegian team. With four clean sheets in his first four games of the season, he has been in excellent form for the top flight team.

It's interesting to note that Wahlstedt's employment with Odds will end in December. This could see Manchester United sign for him at a very cheap fee.

Uncertainty surrounds Wahlstedt's evaluation for a potential number-one position vs a backup position.

Tom Heaton's contract is scheduled to expire, and Jack Butland is reportedly expected to sign with Rangers after his loan period is through, thus Manchester United needs both players, according to the Scottish Sun.

Given that his contract is about to expire, David de Gea's future in goal remains unknown. His future is reportedly the subject of continuing discussions. The top goal keeper in Croatia, Dominik Livakovic, is also being watched by United.

Wahstedt would be a wise addition for not much money. For less than £5 million, United might be able to acquire him. Whether he is the lone addition or not, he would aid the club in bringing in younger and more talented goalkeepers.

Dean Henderson's injury update

According to reports, Dean Henderson's potential permanent transfer from Manchester United could be affected by a thigh injury.

The England player has been sidelined since tearing his thigh in the final seconds of a 2-0 victory over Leicester City in January. The player was expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks at first, but he is still there.

Following the injury, Forest moved to add more players and on January's deadline day, they acquired Keylor Navas on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Since his arrival, the seasoned goalkeeper has been the first choice for the team and has made a number of remarkable saves.

Henderson's return to fitness may have caused Steve Cooper some selection difficulties, but it appears that won't be the case going forward. This past weekend, it was claimed that the goalkeeper's injury would keep him out for the rest of the year.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to have surgery on the injury, according to The Manchester Evening News, which will keep him out of action until August. He might have participated in Forest's final game given the recovery time required.

Henderson joined the team in the summer on loan from Manchester United. Due to playing time, his future at Old Trafford is doubtful. Henderson's chances of being the first choice at Old Trafford are diminished since David de Gea appears to be signing a new contract.

It made another summer move likely as a result, but that may no longer be the case. The goalkeeper's ailment could prevent him from making a move until August, with the transfer window closing at the beginning of September.

The goalie, who missed preseason action while recovering from an injury, will also need to demonstrate his fitness to any new club.
