This summer, it's anticipated that Manchester United will be searching for a new striker.
Erik ten Hag is aware that Wout Weghorst doesn't score enough goals and that he can't count on Anthony Martial to stay healthy. Only two goals have been scored by him since January.
Additionally, Cristiano Ronaldo's performance and attitude during the first half of the season were a concern.
As a result, United has been associated with various strikers. Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and Randal Kolo Muani are just a few examples.
While Eintracht Frankfurt may already be aware that they won't be able to keep Kolo Muani with so many bigger teams banging on their door, trying to sign Kane and Osimhen will require dealing with aggressive negotiators.
Kolo Muani won't be coming to Old Trafford anytime soon, though, according to football writer Christian Falk, as Bayern Munich are the front-runners to sign the forward.
Falk explained in a piece for CaughtOffside: “Bayern are still looking for a striker and most recently they had scouts and technical director, Marco Neppe, at the Aston Villa game. They won’t be making an offer for Ollie Watkins, however, because they’ve decided to continue to focus on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani as a priority as well as seeking clarification on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane’s intentions.
“Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is no longer a target for the club so Man United will be happy, though the Red Devils have an issue if they want to position themselves alongside the Bavarians for Kolo Muani.”
Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Napoli, asserts that he will not sell Osimhen this summer.
The 24-year-old Nigerian international is a clear target for the Reds as they look to add more attacking options during the summer transfer window. Although Harry Kane is the management's primary target, it is believed that manager Erik ten Hag prioritized the recruitment of a fresh goal scorer and that Osimhen has been on their radar since November.
By scoring 22 goals in 27 league games, Osimhen, who is also drawing interest from clubs like Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, helped Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years this season. He has made 34 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 27 goals overall.
He has made a name for himself as one of the most in-demand attackers in Europe, and a number of teams, including United, have been keeping an eye on him in the lead-up to this summer. De Laurentiis, the manager of Napoli, put an end to any aspirations United and other suitors may have had of signing him after the Italian team won the title on Thursday night.
In an interview with Rai Sport in Italy, De Laurentiis stated: "I will not sell Victor Osimhen this summer - no way."
With an incredible total of 27 goals this year, Osimhen has been the crown jewel for Napoli. He signed on with the reigning Serie A champions in July 2020, and in 96 games since then, he has scored 55 goals.
Osimhen refused to comment on his future after Napoli's Serie A championship-clinching 1-1 tie with Udinese on Thursday night, stating that the time wasn't appropriate.
"I'm thrilled with this victory," Osimhen told Sky. "I'm happy for me, for the team and for the fans. I can't wait to come back in Naples to embrace our fans, even though tonight I already felt the warmth of the people."
"I'm happy for all the Neapolitans. I scored the Scudetto goal, it's true, but anyone else could have scored it. I feel like a leader and I never give up. Future? Now I want to enjoy this historic moment, this is not the time to think about my future."
"[Luciano] Spalletti is a great coach, he asks us a lot but he is like a father to all of us. He always manages to motivate us and he deserves this title."
POCH REQUESTS £70 MILLION MAN UTD TARGET
According to recent reports, Pochettino has 'accepted' to take over as Chelsea's permanent manager and has already begun putting together his team for the upcoming campaign.
Romelu Lukaku and Mason Mount's futures are up for decision this summer, and Chelsea is rumored to be considering a surprise deal for Bayern Munich's Sadio Mane.
And according to Football Insider, Chelsea is interested in signing Inter Milan attacker Martnez this summer.
Martinez is "available for about £70 million" and is a "real target." According to reports, Pochettino "mentioned a move for Martinez during talks with the club" and has praised the Argentina international as "one of the best strikers in the world of football."
Manchester United are "tracking him as they search for their own new number nine," according to the article, but "Chelsea are now keen to join the race for his signature after a glowing endorsement from their next manager."
