Mason Mount issues heartfelt message to Chelsea fans amid potential Man United's switch

Mason Mount has written a heartfelt letter to Chelsea fans as rumors about his future spread.

Mount, 24, only has 13 months left on his Stamford Bridge deal, and Erik ten Hag has been rumored to be interested in acquiring him when the market opens. This summer, Manchester United will continue their renovation, and Ten Hag wants to bring in at least two significant players, with Harry Kane remaining at the top of his want list.

The United manager, however, is also interested in a dynamic midfielder. In that sense, Mount is a good fit, and he might be ready to take on a new task.

If he does not sign extended terms, this may be one of the Blues' last opportunities to recoup their investment in their academy graduate because negotiations over a new deal have stalled with the Chelsea hierarchy. As a result, prospective suitors like United, Arsenal, and Liverpool look to be on high alert.

Since February, Mount has only made one Premier League appearance for Chelsea, and former interim manager Frank Lampard has suggested he may want to move on. However, Mount didn't bring up his own circumstances when speaking to the crowd of supporters.

Uploading images from the final day to his Instagram account, he added the caption: "It's fair to say it's been an up and down season, but your support has never dipped. Travelling all around the country, you were with us every step of the way and at times we didn't deserve you."

"But now it's time to have a break and recover. Thank you and enjoy your summer Blues."

Last weekend, David Ornstein was able to add even more piece of information to the growing rumor mill when appearing on NBC Sports.

"Now that doesn't mean it's done because the clubs will have to open conversations – which I hear will happen in due course," Ornstein explained.

"They'll need to reach an agreement. Manchester United have a lot of hurdles to overcome. Financially, they've got other priorities as well."

"But that's the direction of travel as things stand."

Additionally, according to 90min, Mount will consult with Chelsea's management about his future in the coming week or two.
