Erik Ten Hag left sweating over Marcus Rashford's injury ahead of crucial Chelsea's Thursday night clash

Due to a leg injury, Rashford missed Man United's 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. He later returned to training in preparation for the match against AFC Bournemouth, but was ultimately unable to play because of an illness he caught just before the game. The Red Devils were able to win 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium despite the 25-year-old's absence.

With the help of the three points and Liverpool's loss of a point against Aston Villa over the weekend, Manchester United is now only one point out of a top-four finish going into the last two games. On the final day of the season, Man United hosts Fulham at Old Trafford after hosting Chelsea on Thursday night.

Rashford has scored 29 goals in all competitions this season, and Man United manager ten Hag will be hopeful that he is available for the next two games.

“[Rashford] trained the whole week, but [Friday] he reported he doesn’t feel well, so he’s ill,” said The Red Devils boss.

Rashford's likely absence gives Liverpool a slim chance to finish in the top four. To do so, Liverpool needs Manchester United to lose to Chelsea and Fulham or Newcastle to lose to Leicester City and Chelsea with a seven goal differential swing. On the final day of the season, Jurgen Klopp's team visits a Southampton team that has already been demoted.

In terms of points, Newcastle and Man United are tied going into Monday night's game against Leicester at home. A win would put them in a dominant position to earn a top three finish and finish above Man United for the first time ever in the Premier League, while a point would be sufficient to ensure a top four finish with a game remaining.

Having played the same number of games, they are tied for third place with Newcastle United in terms of points, but they once again have a much worse goal differential.

After coming off the bench against Bournemouth, Scott McTominay is once again available for Manchester United, and Tom Heaton is almost ready to make a comeback from an ankle injury.

For the rest of the season, Marcel Sabitzer, Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek, and Phil Jones are all out.
